Marine family needs help

Don't want to start anything but if any Ohio members are able to help a family grieve in piece my friend a Marine sent me this

Please read the note that I received below and help if you can! This Marine faught and died for people like the ones described below to have the right to protest. This being said, I feel we have a duty to shield the family from these types of people. Please read the note below and join me either on the procession path or in the Human Wall!

 

Here is the note that I received:

 

"Last week, October 20, a 22 year old Marine from Painesville Township

was killed in Afghanistan. He is coming home today. Saturday is going

to be his funeral at Zion Lutheran Church on Mentor Ave in Painesville

(across from Lake Erie College) at 11 am. The funeral procession on

Saturday will leave Monreal Funeral Home on Curtis Blvd in Eastlake,

travel to route 90, go to Vrooman Road and go North on Vrooman Rd. The

procession will go left on 84 to drive past Riverside High School where

Lance Cpl David Baker went to school. They will continue past the

school going west on East Walnut (84) and continue through to Mentor

Avenue. They will then turn East on Mentor Ave (Left) to go to the

church. The funeral procession is expcted to leave the funeral home

between 9:45 and 10am Saturday morning and to arrive at the church

Saturday by 11am.

 

 

 

Here is the part that really just frosts me. I dont know how many

people are familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, KS.

They have been in the news several times. This "church" has decided to

travel to the funeral to protest outside the church during services.

They say they protest these funerals because "soldiers are dying for the

homosexual and other sins of America. God is now America's enemy and

God Himself is fighting against America". That is a direct quote from

their "preacher"-a man named Westboro. He is known for preaching

messages about homophobia and anti-Semitism.

 

 

 

This family is going to the church to grieve for their son - a son who

died far away in another country doing what he felt he had to do.

Whether you believe in the war or not, he died and his family is

grieving. The last thing in the world they need to see as they step out

of the limosine at the church is a group of radicals shouting at them

and protesting their son and his death. I am of the opinion that, if

enough people gather at the church PEACEFULLY, we can form a human wall

between the family and this group. They wont have to see them, they

wont have to hear them, they wont even need to acknowledge them. They

can go in to the church to grieve and bury their son - which should be

their only priority that day."

By all means, if the family will notify (request) the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR). They will most likely be there for the family and to shield the family from the uglies..........If it were local, I'd be there.

I sincerely hope that the wall is so successful in protecting the family that they are unaware of the presence of such a group in their time of grief.

The WBC started protesting Military Funerals years ago. That is what brought about the founding of the Patriot Guard Riders. For the families who do NOT invite the Patriot Guard the odds are the WBC will appear. When the Patriot Guard is there you can bet we do a good job of shielding the family in the process of showing Honor and Respect to the deceased Hero.

the first post made me cry. How could anyone be so heartless as to protest the death of someone because they dont believe in the war they were in. And I am a member of the PGR but as of yet not been able to honor a fallen soldier due to all in my area arived while I was at work. Just hope that when I do get the privaledge to help out I can be peacefull. All my respect to the fallen and the ones who maintain their temper and remain peacefull.

The Patriot Gaurd will stand the line. As a member I have been on several missions in my short time since I joined. Give my condolences to the family. As for the protesters GOD bless them GOD keep them for I have no good use for any of them. Once again please tell the family they are in our prayers and thoughts. All give some, some gave all. All Patriot Guard Riders are aware that we do NOT engage or give any attention whatsoever to any protesters who show up at a Hero's funeral.This request is always put forth by the Mission Ride Captain if it is known that UG's will be present. Mission Ride Captains are charged with monitoring all Riders for proper conduct as well as Riders safety during every phase of the Mission....and this includes dehydration and any other sign of illness as well.

 

To the best of my knowledge there has not been ONE incident between the Patriot Guard Riders and any protesters anywhere in the Country during the course of a Mission. All the protesters see is our backsides and beautiful American Flags accompanied by ABSOLUTE SILENCE from the all members on the Flag Line.

 

IMHO that says a hell of a LOT about the character of those who stand the Flag Line!

stuff like this makes me mad , if i didn't just get called back to work after being off for 7 months i would be there to help this family out. the PGR is a great org. and i for one thank them for all they do for our fallen service men. I too thank God for the Patriot Riders. I cannot believe any "church" that truly believes in the Almighty would do anything as intentionally hurtful as these IDIOTS from Kansas! My Bible tells me to love others and to show mercy...I've yet to find anything about harrassing those who are grieving. This would be abominable at ANY funeral...at the funeral of a fallen American Hero (who DIED defending the very SOB's who are "protesting") is, without doubt the most disgraceful, inhumane, anti-american and anti-Christian thing I can imagine.

 

I think it's time the rest of us step up and join the Patriot Guard and carry our share. I'm going to start hunting a local chapter TONIGHT!

Trust me everyone. This is nothing to get worked up about. The WBC started about 4 years ago with their protests and the PGR started with 15 ALR riders. They have stayed about the same and we are over 170k across the country. In the past 3 1/2 years I've seen the UG's in GA only twice and they had a total of about 12 people to our 150 bikes. They are a non-issue. They say they will be at every mission and they never show up. They do have the right to protest but they must get a permit from the local authorities. The PGR will find out if they have that permit (which must be obtained 24 hrs in advance) but they probably won't. While they can protest along the route, they are restricted around the church and cemetery to either end an hour before the service or start an hour after. If they obtain a permit for the route we simply change the route and go around them. They're really less of a nuisance than GA gnats. LOL

 

The last 2 times in GA the family didn't even know they were there. There were so many of us that when the family arrived and the protesters started to yell we all started singing 'God Bless America'. You couldn't hear a word they said. (I think we may have traumatized some people though. ) The other time they obtained a permit for the church and we changed churches. They protested but it was 3 miles away. No one ever saw them because we routed around them.

 

For those of you who live close please feel free to check the PGR site, get the information and come stand. The OH PGR will welcome you with open arm. You don't need to be a member and you don't even need to ride. Rest easy, we have become very good at this but like Boomer said, it's not now nor will it ever be about us.

In Canada, when a fallen soldier is repatriated, the motorcade is escorted from CFB Trenton to Toronto along Hwy 401 by police service personnel. This section of road has been renamed "The Highway of Heroes" and at almost every bridge or overpass along the route and in some cases even along the highway, ordinary people, fire departments and local police etc, gather to pay their respects to the fallen soldier as he passes by, it is generally the only time we can say thank you for the sacrifice that they have made on behalf of their country. Luckilly we haven't seen the need for a PGR type group here but I am sure if the need arose there would be many of us that would gladly step up to the plate.

That's awesome to hear Brewser. It's great when people support those who have put themselves in harms way. The PGR has grown so much that we attend and escort for veterans, law enforcement and fire fighters as well. The protesters are not even thought about anymore. We're there completely for the families now. Most recently we had a family that didn't want the press taking pictures so we stood shoulder to shoulder folding flags so the press was completely blocked and the family had their privacy. We had one young widow say that when she arrived at the church and saw all the flags and bikes was the first time she felt safe since she heard the news of her husband's death.

 

Even without protesters, Canada and Australia (All the nations fighting for the cause of freedom) deserve an organization like the PGR. It would be great to see one start in Canada. I know we had many that would ride across the border from the northern states years ago but the crossing has become a problem now. If I lived close I would consider it an honor to ride for a Canadian soldier and fly The Maple Leaf from my bike.

The Mission is scheduled for Saturday 31 October.

You yanks have my utmost respect and admiration for standing up to these UGs.

 

They obviously missed the class on patriotism and love of one's country.

 

I am the Town Manager of a community in Canada not far from a base where our Princess Pat's have once again deployed for Afganistan.

 

Our Town supports our men and women who put themselves in harms way to ensure we continue to live free.

 

I am also a Canadian Air Force Veteran and member of a great legion and am very proud of my past service.

 

My heart goes out to those that lose sons, daughters and friends. We as well have those that have paid the ultimate price on our behalf.

 

Thank god you have a group that can protect those grieving from the idiots that take freedom for granted. I have my own unprintable thoughts about what to do with ignorant folks such as those that have no compassion for the price being paid in blood for them to be able to enjoy the rights they have now.

 

Good luck and keep up the solid wall concept. Too bad it is needed but at least you have it.

Not much to add to what Chip (Loehring) posted, but I'm sure the family of this Fallen Hero will be comforted by the presence of many flag carrying Patriots tomorrow as they lay their son to rest. They will neither see nor hear one voice or image of protest from anyone. The low life "pastor" of the WBC, whose name is Phelps, has failed, and will continue to fail, in his attempts to spread his lies and filth at the expense of a fallen Warrior. Which is why they rarely if ever show up to any funerals anymore, even though they continue to say they will. Their only remaining weapon is their web site, where they can continue to spew their bile.

 

For reference and information about the PGR, go to http://www.patriotguard.org. Once you join (no cost), you will be able to easily track any of the missions in any state that are taken on by the PGR to stand for our Heroes. You'll also be able to post your own personal condolences for any fallen active duty KIA or veteran for whom the PGR is standing to honor. These condolences are often printed and placed in a book that is given to the family, so they know that they are not alone in their grief.
