b2dad Posted October 29, 2009 #1 Posted October 29, 2009 I had my regular checkup today with my family doctor. He was getting on to me about my weight because I had gained a couple pounds. I tried to explain about all the stress I had been under lately with Pat. He asked me if I had been exercising and I told him yes...I had been riding my bike. He looked at me and said really? I said yup! I ride my bike as often as possible. He asked how far I ride...and I said well doc...last month I rode 1200 miles in just under 24 hrs. The look on his face was priceless...and his assistant? She was in shock. I said...yes, I ride my motorcycle every chance I get. He said what kind of exercise is that? And I said...heck...I had to gas up 10 times!!! That was exercise, don't you agree? It was awhile before they stopped laughing. Then he told me to get a real bike and PEDAL! Or push the one I got....
mini-muffin Posted October 29, 2009 #2 Posted October 29, 2009 I don't know it sounded like perfect excerise to me. Not sure why they wouldn't think so. Plus it's a good stress reliever. Margaret

Venturous Randy Posted October 29, 2009 #4 Posted October 29, 2009 You should have stated "Do you know what it is like to wrestle arould 800 pounds"? RandyA
Yama Mama Posted October 29, 2009 #5 Posted October 29, 2009 I do not agree with your doctor that he does not think riding YOUR BIKE, is good exercise. First of all for a person to have to raise their leg high enough to get on our Ventures, you really have to be in good shape. Then of course when you go to Meet and Eat's, think of the many times you get on and off YOUR BIKE to go in and eat. Then after wards I am sure you would have to get on YOUR BIKE to go get ice cream. This has to be a real calorie burner. Does anyone agree? Thank you, I made my point. Yama Mama:smile5:
