BoomerCPO Posted October 28, 2009 #1 Posted October 28, 2009 A major rock slide has happened on I-40 E, just 3 miles from TN into NC. The road is expected to be CLOSED for up to 3 months. Boomer....who sure would not want to ride into that mess.
ArticusMedicus Posted October 28, 2009 #2 Posted October 28, 2009 Thats the story, but we all know they are building a secret compound in the mountain to house martians. It is a good cover though... May-haps I should lay off the coffee.
tazmocycle Posted October 29, 2009 #3 Posted October 29, 2009 they need to do like they did here in birmingham, al when a gas truck crashed and burned up a major bridge in the middle of town of 3 major interstates meeting. they offered over a million$ bonus for getting it done in third of time estimated to repair. they finished a day ahead, but then everybody want to know why they had to pay the bonus if it was possible to do it in shorter time.
Venturous Randy Posted October 29, 2009 #4 Posted October 29, 2009 We are already seeing a lot more traffic in Johnson City, Tn, which is in the path of I-26. The restaurants and hotel business has picked up also. If you come thru Johnson City, be on the look out for unmarked Mustangs and a light brown Hemi Charger. It has been all over the news that they ARE going to enforce the 55 speed limit thru the city. The local geologists predicted we would see a lot rockslides in that area with the extra rain we have had this summer and fall. And, they are now saying it may take more than three months to get it open. RandyA
Guest Ken8143 Posted October 29, 2009 #5 Posted October 29, 2009 I was just down that way and decided not to take I-40 east but some other windy way. 3 months for I-40 to be closed is a big thing.
Hummingbird Posted October 29, 2009 #6 Posted October 29, 2009 I saw that on the telly the other day. That's one heck of a mess but I don't understand 3 months to clean it up. I wonder just how many guys they have allocated to balance the shovels ?
