rod Posted October 24, 2009 #2 Posted October 24, 2009 Well it could be worse. It is 90 deg here and I am still chasing electrical grimlins on the "Road Sofa". I think I have it nerrowed down to one connector in the faring. I think I need to go for a ride for parts till it cools off. Sweaty and hot Rod
mini-muffin Posted October 24, 2009 #3 Posted October 24, 2009 Which flu shot did ya get? There's two shots out right now and you could have gotten the other flu. Margaret
Thom Posted October 24, 2009 Author #4 Posted October 24, 2009 we got the reg. one , can't get the other untill the end of next mo.
SilvrT Posted October 24, 2009 #5 Posted October 24, 2009 I didn't get a flu shot and I still wound up with a hangover.
MiCarl Posted October 24, 2009 #6 Posted October 24, 2009 I prevent disease by keeping my body so polluted no germ can survive in it......
BoomerCPO Posted October 24, 2009 #8 Posted October 24, 2009 we got the reg. one , can't get the other untill the end of next mo. Latest news is that the shot for the H1N1 flu won't do any good because the shots are being given out too late. Boomer.......who takes a shot....of booze.... every day..... and that works better than what the Gubbermint is offering.
jfoster Posted October 24, 2009 #9 Posted October 24, 2009 I'm with you Chief...as far as I'm concerned they can keep it. I'll take my chances.
FROG MAN Posted October 24, 2009 #10 Posted October 24, 2009 The wife just called from the hospital. My son has the swine flu tested positive. He is 11 years old. I just started feeling bad this morning. Looks like maybe a few rough days ahead. No shots available but to late for that now.
1BigDog Posted October 24, 2009 #11 Posted October 24, 2009 Hope it turns out all right Gerald, for both of you. I never get a flu shot. The one year I did get one about 2 weeks later I caught a raging case of the flu. That was about 15 years ago and I was out sick for 10 days. Swore off of them completely.
bongobobny Posted October 24, 2009 #12 Posted October 24, 2009 You may have H1N1. I have been sick since Wed evening and the doc suspects it may be H1N1 but haven't been tested to find out for sure. It's not as bad in adults as it is for kids...
SilvrT Posted October 24, 2009 #13 Posted October 24, 2009 A couple weeks ago we had an "in-depth" thread about the flu shot, etc. Apaprently it's a proven fact that a person can't get the flu from a flu shot but that doesn't mean to say a person won't get sick or contract some other strain of flu. Personally I don't believe I've ever had a flu shot and I'm not about to start. I rarely get sick and that tells me that I have a strong immune system ... why fix it if it ain't broke? Now, if only my immune system would do something about this hangover!!
Dano Posted October 24, 2009 #14 Posted October 24, 2009 I got some weak flu starting Monday, could feel it in my throat and that metallic taste when I swallowed. Started hackin' up green/yeller, called the Doc on Thursday, got me right in and gave me a Z-Pac (3 day super-antibiotic). Felt better Friday (even tho I complained about feeling bad and got a 2 hour nap in!) and feel great today. Nipped 'er in the bud by gettin to the docs early enuff. Might try some of SilvrTs and MiCarls meds tonite! Whats that hangover cure?
SilvrT Posted October 25, 2009 #15 Posted October 25, 2009 Whats that hangover cure? Rum & Coke wait a min... that's not the cure, that's the cause!
Donde Posted October 25, 2009 #16 Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) i was planning on riding today but o'well . Thom , A whiny old fart Was this the wknd u had plans of riding the twisted sisters? hig4s Posted October 25, 2009 #17 Posted October 25, 2009 Hope it turns out all right Gerald, for both of you. I never get a flu shot. The one year I did get one about 2 weeks later I caught a raging case of the flu. That was about 15 years ago and I was out sick for 10 days. Swore off of them completely. They are not the same type of shots there were 15 years ago, the new one use dead viri so you cannot catch the flu from them, the just kick your immune system into making the antibodies.
hig4s Posted October 25, 2009 #18 Posted October 25, 2009 A couple weeks ago we had an "in-depth" thread about the flu shot, etc. H1N1 comes around almost every year, and every year it is slightly different. What they are calling swine flu, is also being called the 2009 H1N1 even though it was already around at the end of 08. The current regular flu shot has viri from the previous H1N1 and a few of the other more predominant flu viri from the last few years. The second shot, when it is available will be only for 2009 H1N1. Even if you get both shots, there are types of flu out there that you can catch, but they are usually not as strong as the ones they make the shots for. As far as testing for the flu, it must be done in the first 5 days or they cannot tell which type it is. And the TammiFlu shot to help knock out the Swine flu must be given in the first two days or it probably will not do any good. As far as not being as dangerous to adults, I haven't had anything other than mild colds in the last 10 years, although I have had more colds in the last three years than the previous 7 and I am 52 now, but still I believe my immune system was pretty good. I caught some type of flu this summer. My ex family doctor did not test in the first 5 days so we are not positive of what type of flu. It went into double viral pneumonia and I ended up in the hospital for 14 days, 10 in a coma on a respirator. The doctors at the hospital believe it was the swine flu, but like I said, they are not sure. The doctors there said they have had 4 times the normal cases of flu this year needing hospitalization for pneumonia and 3/4 of them were swine flu. Mary and I both got the regular flu shot already, and will get the Swine Flu shot when available, although odds are I've had it and am immune. But with her being a teacher, and my immune system still recovering from this summer, we are not taking any chances.
dr_bar Posted October 25, 2009 #19 Posted October 25, 2009 Just another point of view... http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/10/24/CBS-Reveals-that-Swine-Flu-Cases-Seriously-Overestimated.aspx
Poledar Posted October 26, 2009 #20 Posted October 26, 2009 I read a message today with a weird suggestion, but worth a try!! Cut open a large onion, leave it on a dish in each room of the house. Seems there is an affinity for flu viruses and onions draw them. Even if it DOESN'T work, it only costs you a few onions, and you can always brown them for burgers!!! Good luck, and hope you feel better soon!

Cinderella Posted October 26, 2009 #22 Posted October 26, 2009 we've been hit too.....had haylie to dr twice in the last 4 days......flu symptoms started wed...today they retested for flu and then xray'd cuz shes having chest pain and found a spot of pneumonia in her left lung.....luckily we caught it in early stages I have never seen her so sick for so long.....The worst thing is u cant make it go away for them there also is a high percentage of this flu testing false negative on the rapid test. knock on wood she's the only one who gets it.... hey i read about that onion thing also..........they actually found the virus trapped in the onions after they did this!
FROG MAN Posted October 26, 2009 #23 Posted October 26, 2009 Our granddaughter just came home with a fever. There dropping like fly around here. Flu shots still not available.
pegscraper Posted October 27, 2009 #24 Posted October 27, 2009 Another person who got a flu shot gets the flu. Hmmm. A pattern here just maybe? Don't believe what the propaganda tells you. Observe what you see around you and think for yourself. My mother was a nurse and I never got a flu shot in my life.
BradT Posted October 28, 2009 #25 Posted October 28, 2009 Our youngest started feeling bad yesterday, headaches, sore throat, upset stomach and woke up sweating today. Had a fever of almost 102 a couple hours after Tylenol. It does not seem to drop the fever. I guess we just have to watch it Brad
