SLOW HAND Posted October 24, 2009 #26 Posted October 24, 2009 "insanity" I bought the biggest bike I could afford (used) because it was cheaper than the used full sized scooters I really did consider . I just couldn't see buying the scooter over the less expensive Venture & justifying that as sane. Don't worry I'm not offended as I did scare the crap outta myself week 1 . Of corse if I keep it shiny side up a few more seasons then maybe I can be offended . Besides have you ever seen a fat man on a scooter & not laughed a little ? If I were still 20 yrs old I would kill myself on a 250 as I was invincable like most. Now that I'm older I just tend to get off subject , sorry.
sgn Posted October 24, 2009 #27 Posted October 24, 2009 We - and most of the world - have undergone a major shift. Once most employment was based on the industries - people worked with their hands and backs, you had plumbers, electricians, ditch diggers and mechanics. Now most of employment is in the service sector, we work with our "brains". This shift causes people to stop the "love" of machines, as that is lost we shift interest. Notice the primary use of computers to "surf the web" away from producing products. Education is geared to feed the shift - why be a plumber when you can be a doctor. Until the "common" worker relearns to work, the future really doesn't look so bright. I speak not from any great research just my own life. I went from repairing home appliances to computer drafting. Now my body is refreshed but my brain is tired. Just the thoughts of an old fat guy ....... SGN
jfoster Posted October 24, 2009 #28 Posted October 24, 2009 As far as lending goes...I think that was part of the problem to begin with. They have been lending money to people that had no business getting a loan. Last year when the news was constantly reporting that people couldn't get a car loan we bought a new car at 4% with no problem, which leads me to think its all B.S. or its a poor is me attitude that the average tick terd that won't pay his bills can't get a loan.
