Dave3 Posted November 23, 2009 #26 Posted November 23, 2009 Which tire has a lower profile The EIII or the Avon? I'm riding on the stock Dunlap 404 with 17k miles, the tread still looks good. I have heard the Wing tires will lower the Venture slightly.
Bummer Posted November 23, 2009 #27 Posted November 23, 2009 The H (130mph) is the speed rating. The 80 (992#) and 71 (761#) are the load index numbers. Are the beads closer together on the narrower tire? I'm figuring it was just mashed onto a shelf tighter than the other. Just guessing, of course.
Skid Posted November 23, 2009 #28 Posted November 23, 2009 I'm getting ready to replace the tires on my bike this winter. In comparing the Avons & E3's, the E3's looks to have a heavier load rating. I've ran the E2's on my 1st Gen for years and been very happy with them. I'm going to E3's on the 2nd Gen.....:2cents:
Gamecock Posted November 23, 2009 #29 Posted November 23, 2009 I guess that could be it with the smashing on the self. The #'s match up to what it's supposed to have. I guess we'll find out in February! Thanks Ben
hig4s Posted November 23, 2009 #30 Posted November 23, 2009 As far as the load #,, the higher the better.. That is one of the reasons I like the Avons. And why I like the narrower front, it has a 74 load rating. There was no way for me and the wife and all are gear was under the load rating of the stock tires.

E3 - Rear size: MV85B15 has 77H - 910lbs Avon - Rear size: 150/90B15 80H - 992lbs Either one is fine with me, since I have run both.

I must have read it wrong then...thanks George:thumbsup2:
Dave3 Posted November 24, 2009 #33 Posted November 24, 2009 Sleeperhawk, which tire has a lower profile, E3 or Avon?
Sleeperhawk Posted November 25, 2009 #34 Posted November 25, 2009 I never really noticed any difference in profile.
Uturn Posted November 28, 2009 #35 Posted November 28, 2009 I ordered the Venom (150/90-150) from Dennis Kirk this morning with shipping included. Don't remember when Free Shipping expires. MIKE aka Uturn
Skid Posted November 28, 2009 #36 Posted November 28, 2009 Can anyone tell me if the mileage between the Avon Venon and the Dunlop E3 is much different?
Sleeperhawk Posted December 5, 2009 #37 Posted December 5, 2009 Can anyone tell me if the mileage between the Avon Venon and the Dunlop E3 is much different? Well, on the Venom rear averaging around 13000 to 14000, the E3 rear averaging 15000 to 16000. The front I always buy a new tire for every two rear tires, no matter the shape of the tires.
