distancerider Posted October 19, 2009 #1 Posted October 19, 2009 I'm schdeuled to go to Pensacola, Fl for a week and plan on taking the Venture. I'll have free time in the afternoon / evening. Any thoughts on where to ride, eat, what to see, etc?
M61A1MECH Posted October 20, 2009 #2 Posted October 20, 2009 I have not been to Pensacola in nearly 30 years so I cannot offer any advice on where to ride or eat, but if you have a chance try to get in to see the Naval Air museum that is on the base there, if you can in this day and time.
Eddie Fulmer Posted October 20, 2009 #3 Posted October 20, 2009 Don't miss it... the aircraft museum. Carry your camera too. They have one of the last remaining Zeros there. They aren't nearly as large as you'd think. I didn't get to stay long enough cause my family was with me and we had kids.
hig4s Posted October 20, 2009 #4 Posted October 20, 2009 depends on just where in Pensacola,, and how far/how much you plan to ride there. Mexico Beach, Port St. Joe and Apalachicola are great places to visit. About 160 miles from downtown Pensacola.. http://www.baynavigator.com/index.cfm http://papajoesoysterbar.com/ here is where locals go for oysters. Boss Oyster is also good, just a little more expensive.
Terry Richardson Posted October 20, 2009 #5 Posted October 20, 2009 Yup you have go to see the Naval Aviation Air Museum for sure. They also have a couple avengers salvaged from the floor of the Great lakes. Second spot to see is the Fort Pickens at the beach. There are numerous redoubts and forts along the beach that are fun to explore. One place to eat is The Crab Shack. Great seafood. Another top spot is Joe Patties seafood downtown on the water. Absolutely incredible food, very reasonable and they have their own boats for fresh catches. You also dont want to miss McGuires downtown for great chow and suds they brew themselves. Its a great city with many things to do. Enjoy your trip and if you need anything while here, give me a call at 850-346-0978 Big T
