Seaking Posted October 20, 2009 #26 Posted October 20, 2009 http://www.autobahnpower.com/products.asp?recnumber=542 Hmm doesn't look like a Canadian distributor to me.. the problem is that cross border shipping of POL products isn't permitted for a lot of products, such as oils and tires.. go figure.. someone figured it might be a 'technology theft' of something.. Still, 20 bucks a can.. this stuff had really be that good Unfortunately, these guys do not ship outside the USA.. oooooh Thanks M8
gunboat Posted October 20, 2009 #27 Posted October 20, 2009 i have used the 44k a couple of times on my bike. when we did the carb floats at tom's in blanco. the carb fuel bowls were real clean. as ponch said tom told me about this product. on national pubic radio (npr) there is a radio show called click & clack. it's two auto mechanics ( i think they are brothers )you can call in to their show and ask for auto mechanics info and they recommend the 44k products. especially the carb & injector products. how about a 44k run across the border? i could be timpted to buy a few cases to run across the border this spring. don c.
Ponch Posted October 20, 2009 Author #28 Posted October 20, 2009 I am thinking that would be good. It may be in the spring, looks like things are getting kinda' booked for the next few weeks and after that, the weather here isn't good for leaving on a bike. Maybe I can make a meet in your neck of the woods next time. I was kinda' looking at a road trip next spring to East Texas, Houston, Rockport, Leakey, El Paso, Fort Stockton, Odessa and back home. Most of the trip is pretty flexible, but I can't skip Odessa, the is probably the prettiest part of the trip. I forgot if you said you were going to trailer the Midnight down here in January. If you do, we might be able to do it at Thom's (if he doesn't mind).

Well, actually I'm on my way down to Texas next MAY 2010 and hope to squeeze a lot of technical expertise and experience from Goose and the gang down there as my ride buddy and I start the year with a massive road trip =) So if we can't find any before then, we can surely pick some up on the way down hehe.. Thanks M8
gunboat Posted October 20, 2009 #30 Posted October 20, 2009 i'am going to add not all auto parts garry the 44k. i drove out to waller were a-1 parts is and picked up two cans of the stuff. all the local autoparts stores around me in a 20 miles radis, do not carry the stuff or have heard of it. a-1 in waller told me to go by their store closer to me ( they have 4 stores ) at huffmiser& spring-cypress. the guys there told me they have never carried the 44k at that location. that the waller store was the only one to order the stuff. and they would be happy to do a inter-store transfeer for me if i would give them a call a day ahead of when i needed it. well the drive out to waller is a better ride even though it's miles futher away from me. just a few of the stores that do not carry the stuff: auto zone o'relly pep boys napha advance auto parts there are thousands of auto parts stores around the houston area, and most of them are the national box stores. i have only gone to about 30 of them in my local area. i have also checked at the oldest auto parts store in my home town of huntsville, texas (60 miles from me). and they don't carry the 44k. so i buy a couple of cans when i can. don c.
flb_78 Posted October 23, 2009 #31 Posted October 23, 2009 We could have another meet and re-set your float levels. I'm just sayin'. Im in, Think we could throw in a valve adjustment and a set of gauges?
Jerry W Posted October 23, 2009 #32 Posted October 23, 2009 I forgot if you said you were going to trailer the Midnight down here in January. If you do, we might be able to do it at Thom's (if he doesn't mind). I will probably leave the bike home in January. Maybe I can make a maintenance day sometime when they are going to be doing some carb work. I am not knowing if there is anyone up here who is much on carburator adjustment. I am considering buying a colortune before I host another maintenance day which will probably be in the spring.
Ponch Posted October 23, 2009 Author #33 Posted October 23, 2009 ...Maybe I can make a maintenance day sometime when they are going to be doing some carb work..... I think we can make another trip up there if a carb clinic doesn't happen before then. If nothing else, we can do it at Freebird's in June. Forrest, we can accommodate a Valve adjustment, gauge install and a carb float reset in one day, but we have to keep the number of jobs to two or three bikes. We did four bikes at Tom's with three competent mechanics, one of whom was already proficient at RSV Valve adjustment. It took ALL DAY Saturday. We had to do the gauge install Sunday morning.
Ponch Posted October 23, 2009 Author #34 Posted October 23, 2009 I am considering buying a colortune before I host another maintenance day which will probably be in the spring. You probably should pickup some orifice restrictors or mini adjustable valves for your Carb Tune. That will knock out the "Bounce" we saw on bokeifus' bike. I've heard that you can use mini valves like on an aquarium air supply.
Jerry W Posted October 23, 2009 #35 Posted October 23, 2009 I am going to contact the carbtune folks and see if I can order some restrictors from them. I didn't know about them until you guys came up.
V7Goose Posted October 23, 2009 #36 Posted October 23, 2009 Where did you get your carb tune? If you bought it new, the restrictors came with it. All they are is a small piece of clear tubing with a VERY small hole in it that you are supposed to cut into 4 pieces, then put one piece into each of the hoses. Goose
Jerry W Posted October 23, 2009 #37 Posted October 23, 2009 Got it off ebay, said it was new in box, the carbtune did look new and the adapters had not been opened. The orfices weren't in there and I didn't know about them. That was a couple of years ago. Them's the way it goes sometimes.
flb_78 Posted October 24, 2009 #38 Posted October 24, 2009 If Jerry were to pick up a 8" bench vise, we could change tires as well. I could fab up some custom spoons to keep from scratching the wheels.
