fixit3546 Posted September 27, 2007 #1 Posted September 27, 2007 Finally got everything connected to the engine and it started right up. That was testerday. ran fine. Today, it will start but only with full choke and only one cylinder firing. the tach works. the cylinder that runs is the right front. Any ideas???
Squeeze Posted September 27, 2007 #2 Posted September 27, 2007 Do you have Spark on the other Cylinders ?

Did you flush out the fuel tank before starting it the first time? I did the same thing on the '87. Bought it with carb problems, and never could get it to run right. So I changed out the carbs with another set and it took right off and ran great..... the first day. Then things got progressively worse until I'm back to where I started. Didn't even look at the fuel coming out of the tank.... my bad!!
GeorgeS Posted September 27, 2007 #5 Posted September 27, 2007 Try draining the Tank, Draining the Carb bowl's, put in new gas, and give it a dose of " Valvoline Synthetic Fuel Injector Cleaner " ( about 1/4 of the bottle, with about 2 gallons of gas ) Run about a 1/4 tank of that, then add some " Sea - Foam "
fixit3546 Posted September 29, 2007 Author #6 Posted September 29, 2007 What would my old friend Forrest Gump say in a situation such as this?? Stupid is as stupid does........maybe. Fuel was good, i had already checked that, so i went to jumoing to conclusions. in the past i had accused the CDI box of being the culprit, only to find that it wasnt. what are the chanced i could be wrong again? i asked my self. and beside, it is too much trouble to pull the plugs and check them. I said to myself.......... So i pulled the CDI box. broke it open, found nothing obviously wrong. BTW, it is easier to pull the plugs than the CDI box. On the up side, I'll have the CDI mounted to the breather box from now on. it'l make my next "mistake" easier Conclusion to the whole matter??................three gas fouled spark plugs. I'm feeling mighty smart right now.

I moved mine 7 or 8 years ago. I keep a spare CDI and when I have troubles the first thing I do is to swap them so as to eliminate that one parameter from what may be wrong Dick
