footsie Posted October 21, 2009 #26 Posted October 21, 2009 I have talked to many people on main street in daytona, this time I talked with several couples that were dressed head to toe with Harley gear, asked what they rode, the answer I got from several was well we haven't bought a bike yet, but are looking. Or you just love coming to bike week, we are thinking about buying a Harley but can't afford one yet. I asked one guy how much he could afford, his wife said about 150 to 200 dollars a month payment. He was looking a my wifes road star at the time, I told him he could buy one for 4000 to 8000 used, he said he didn't think you could get a harley for that, I told I thought you said you liked the bike your sitting on, he said I do would love to have one, I well its a Yamaha not a harley. I told him to reconsider, did he want to ride, or dream, he said ride, I think I will be looking for one of these now, found them a couple of hours later talking with a gut who had a 2004 road star silverado for 5700. Now I believe in real biker dress my self, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a tee shirt of any color. Gregg

Snarley Bill Posted October 21, 2009 #29 Posted October 21, 2009 here's my take. if some one wears a lot of harley gear and has no bike thats none of my business. i do my own thing and it's everyone elses right to do their own thing. as long as they don't affect me in an adverse way, they can have at it. maybe i look out of place wearing a ski jack and loafers when ever i ride. who cares. i'm warm and comfortable. the only thing i see in poor taste is the crappy little helmets with the fowl language all over them, alot of it degrading women. i guess that makes a rider look tough. i'm not sure what a biker is supposed to look like, but i'm sure i would'nt drive my car looking like a clown so why would i want to look like a clown on my bike.
Jrichard Posted October 22, 2009 #30 Posted October 22, 2009 These days you do not even have to own a bike . I seen a lot of Cages with HD stickers plastered on the back rear window . I have asked many of them as either stopped at a red light or in the parking lot as to which model they own . Most reply , "I do not own one yet , But maybe when I get rich enough one day I will !" . You will not believe how many times I have heard this . I guess it makes you a "Somebody" just to have that sticker now on your rear window of a Cage . Go figure ........... It's a cult following----------similar to a religious experience-------WHERE they ALL bow down at the alter of HD?????????
footsie Posted October 22, 2009 #31 Posted October 22, 2009 I don't mind stickers on helmets, as long as they are clean in content, I agree with bill, most of them are nasty, distasteful and I would not want my wife of daughters refered to that way. I absolutely hate the b---h term, that's a female dog, why would any woman allow anyone to refer to her as a dog. I am sure that my wife would rip a tee shirt off of me that said anything about the b. and I would expect her to. Now as far a dress, lets see when I riding I wear blue jeans, tee shirt, tennis shoes, when fishing I wear tennis shoes, tee shirt and bluejeans, when working in the yard I perfer tennis shoes, bluejeans and a tee shirt. when sitting on the couch watching TV I take the tennis shoes off. Gee the thread was fun Gregg
