Garmin 765T external microphone

The cradel for the Garmin 765T has a port for an external microphone. Does any one know if the external microphone cable for the Garmin could be wired into the 5 pin cable on the 2G so that you can use a regular head set microphone instead of a Blurtooth enabled head set and a Zumo 550 setup? The 765T is so much cheaper than the Zumo 550, so if you could still make a hands free phone call that would be ideal.

Buddy Rich sells a cable for this purpose. My assumption is that this will work, but you should probably ask him if he doesn't chime in here. If you find the answer please let me know....I just ordered a Nuvi 760 with BT and would love to be able to have that feature.
