Stator question

Hi Guys,

 

Could someone tell me if a stator from a V max engine will fit a 1990 XVZ1300 Venture Royale ?.

 

I've been told that it does, just wanted to check.

 

Also any tips or instructions on the process of changing the stator out, as I don't have a manual of any kind with my bike, do I need any special tools to get the flywheel off/out.

Hey Bootneck.

 

Not sure on the VMax changeover but it sounds like a possiblilty. Most the parts on these things are interchangable.

 

The stator is mounted to the inside of the left hand forward case cover itself. All you need to do is remove the peg & shifter link, secondary cover and then the forward cover. Can be a bit harsh to remove with old gaskets and the magnetics pulling it but it will come off.

 

The only reason you would need to pull the rotor is if you are rebuilding or replacing the rotor itself or the starter engage clutch.

It's sometimes difficult when trying to get to know a new bike, especially when they didn't really have them in the UK, so parts are a bit hard to come by.

I believe the Vmax stator is the same till 2000. Rocket will chime in & give you the exact years..........:canada:
