Yammer Dan Posted October 9, 2009 #1 Posted October 9, 2009 I know we have it here somewhere but I can't find it. What is the right # for the TCI in my 85?? I know the one in there is the wrong one but runs pretty fair don't it Skid and Grindo?? Dano got me to thinking so I'll swap it out and see. Hope it don't run much better. Can't keep front wheel on ground now!!! I have a TDI14-17 in there now. 26H-10
Snaggletooth Posted October 9, 2009 #2 Posted October 9, 2009 The 26H is the only model for the '83's. About any 41R will work on the 84's up to 89 I believe. Later models were different because of the single pickup. I have one from an '87 in mine now with a spare from an '86. Both work fine. I had replaced my bad original with a 26H and it did run fine, just some difference in the boost specs. I couldn't tell the difference to be honest. So the 41R is the way to go for your '85. Any number after the 41R that is just year to year changes. Mike
Yammer Dan Posted October 9, 2009 Author #3 Posted October 9, 2009 Got the 41 in there and tried it for about 50 miles. Not much difference if any. If you really crank it in 1st and speed shift to 2nd it will scare the Crap out of you!!! That big faring blocks the view completely when it is up in the air!! About normal.
Snaggletooth Posted October 11, 2009 #4 Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) Dan you sound like we could have fun together. A while back some of my co-workers were hanging out in our back lot behind the store. One on a HD Wide Glide, one on a C50T, another on a Valk and me on my '84. The lot had just been done with new surface and it's about 75 yards long. The C50T made a couple of runs back and forth and was pretty proud of his bike. The HD made a couple of runs and made it to 3rd gear. I made one run and and just made it into 2nd gear and raised the front wheel off before I had to shut it down. Bottomed out the progressives for the first time getting stopped. LOL! Well there was a slacked jawed stone silence when I pulled back over to them and I was looking at the Valk rider. All he did was glance at his cell phone and say "I gotta get going". Since then I haven't had a word of smart remarks about my "golden oldie". These old girls can really throw people for a loop when you give them the twist. Makes me grin everytime. Edited October 11, 2009 by Snaggletooth
Yammer Dan Posted October 11, 2009 Author #5 Posted October 11, 2009 Busted a couple Hardleys at work. Both young kids that didn't know how to ride. Don't think it would have made much difference. The rest of them avoid me.
