Squidley Posted October 9, 2009 Author #28 Posted October 9, 2009 Thank you my friends, I didn't think you'd throw me to the curb It still really hasn't sunk in that this bike is really mine, but it will be the one bike that I will never get rid of. As some of you know Ron was a very special friend to me, we clicked right off and I have very fond memories of our conversations, we thought alike and I truly loved him. I have also decided ( actually from right after the accident happened) that I wanted the bike to be a memorial to him...Now I will make that happen. I have to tell you all something, we all rag on the Harleys in fun, but when the 3 of us Rick, Myself and His cousin Bob set it up to try and start it...it fired up on the 2nd try after sitting for 15 years. It sounded really good and no it doesn't have strait pipes I am excited to get it road ready and take it for a spin. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with me, I am very happy that I have the opportunity to have a piece of Ron and his family with me
RandyR Posted October 9, 2009 #29 Posted October 9, 2009 congrats Brad.... Now you'll just have to find a bigger trailer...
OldBear Posted October 9, 2009 #30 Posted October 9, 2009 The love of a true friend is a rare and special thing. You obviously were a very special person in his life and the life of his family. God Bless...
loehring Posted October 9, 2009 #31 Posted October 9, 2009 Congrats Squidley. Only someone like you really understands what you have. Every bike carries a piece of it's owner and right now that bike is in the ONLY place it could be. Every time you get on that bike Ron will be there with you. That's something no one who bought it would ever understand. As long as that bike runs, Ron will never stop riding. My '07 RSMV belonged to a good friend of mine, Mike "Deltoid" Bland. After he passed they were going to let it go back to the bank but timing and fortune were on our side and now Mike is still riding with us. There are twin VR Guardian Bells, one is on the bike and one is tied to Mike's urn with a purple ribbon and buried with him. Somehow letting the bike be sold to just anyone was just wrong. When I look at that bike I see Mike and always will. This HD is just like that. I'm really glad you have it. All is as it should be.

wkboard Posted October 9, 2009 #37 Posted October 9, 2009 Brad, What an awesome gift!!! Enjoy the memories of your good friend. How ironic, You thought you were helping them out, but you were actually working on your own new ride!! Is'nt it nice when kindness and love sneek up on you like that. It is wonderful for you to have had such a good friend. Even though he is gone now, his friendship is a gift from God that will never leave you. Not everyone knows that kind of frienship..Cherish it ! You and Lonna do such a good job of careing for others, and truely deserve the kindness. I am blessed to have you two as friends!!!
Kregerdoodle Posted October 9, 2009 #38 Posted October 9, 2009 Brad and Lonna!! There is nothing more to add... That is awsome, I know you will be smiling everytime you ride it, rain or shine... Kreg
DragonRider Posted October 9, 2009 #39 Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) Congrats on the new bike, even though it be a HD, I know you will treasure this bike and is one you will never part with, it has too much sentimental value for you. Good luck with the makekover and just use a little extra loctite on it................ Its about time lady karma smiled on you..................... Edited October 9, 2009 by DragonRider

ArticusMedicus Posted October 9, 2009 #48 Posted October 9, 2009 Sweet Brad. Karma has kissed you. I know you are going to love tooling around on that thing. And like someone else said, every time you fire it up, your buddy will be there with ya.
Ponch Posted October 9, 2009 #49 Posted October 9, 2009 That's great Brad. What a surprise! If Don don't have room for it, I'll squeeze it in at my place for ya!
naturbar Posted October 9, 2009 #50 Posted October 9, 2009 " I hope y'all dont disown me"........ if anything you're more endeared to our hearts. i'm gonna paraphrase a little ....Jesus said ' there is no better gift to give than to lay you're life down for your friends'....squid you didn't exactly lay your life down but you certainly did put it on hold to help & honor your friend. you now own a genuine piece of Americana and what better way to remember & honor your friend by riding and maintaining something that was very important to him. life's lessons often come by unexpected means and squid you've taught us all well here today. congrats on your new ride & God bless you and yours. buz
