I have on ly had my 06' venture for a week. Today I put my Garmin gps on and went for a ride(I know my Garmins speedo is accurate) It showed anywhere between 3 and 5 mph to slow, it also is jittery instead of smooth, like a real needle would be. Any suggestions.

Wait a minute....you said that you bike's speedo is reading SLOW? That is opposite of most. Every one I've ever seen reads fast. In other words....the speedo will show that you are traveling maybe 70 MPH while you are actually only going about 65.

Mine is the same way. Garmin says 70, bike says 63. Tested side by side with my father-in-laws Harley and my Garmin and his bike were right on. I simply don't look at the bikes.

No, it will actually make it a bit worse but in the other direction. I think that most of us have used a 7.5% correction with the Speedohealer. The Odometer only reads about 4% or so high so after adding the Speedohealer, it will read about 3% low.

Does the speedohealer also correct the odometer discrepancy?

FWIW

I tried to split the difference between the speedo and odo. I finally decided I'd rather have the speedo right. I believe I would up with it set at -7.5.

I did a search without success to find Speedohealer installation instructions here. I think I remember someone actually taking pictures of it, and t was indeed simple. Anyone have a link to the tread I am thinking of?

Edit: The have a nice PDF here.

Did I also read that I needed to look for a special Yamaha harness? Where are folks buying their Speedohealers these days?

I think I remember some pictures also but will have to search for them. It is very simple though. Just plug and play. I used 7.5% also and it put it dead on accurate with my GPS.

I set my speedohealer to the odometer. I originally had it set to correct the speedometer, but I didn't like having the odometer off that far.

To correct the speedometer, I had it set at -7.5%

To correct the odometer, I have it set at -5.2%

I love mine...I'm like Buddy, gets old always thinking if I want to run 70 I need to be doing 77. Then your mind (our mine atleast) thinks the motor is actually turning 77 mph. Either way wouldn't go without it.

They really are plug and play. Heres where I installed mine. Just used some velcro. There's only one plug in there that matches it so it would be hard to get it wrong.

Mine is this way. My speedo is reading fast. 60 on my speedo is around 55 on the garmin.

You must have one of those bikes built downunder.
