rjjammer Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Putting your bike away for the winter is not such a bad thing, I just put mine away for the year! I never did get to finish painting mine so I didnt get to ride it once in 2008. Now Im back in Afghanistan and wont see my bike untill late in 2010. Here is my thought, cherish what you have, enjoy every moment. someone always has it better than you and many more have it worse. Later my VR friends,

Assuming you are in the military, but regardless be safe out there. Watched a show last night on National Geographic about Green Berets in Afghanistan. Very eye opening. Unfortunately they had 2 fatalities. It was pitch black, and there was an military truck (Afghan I believe) in the back of the convoy with its' lights on. Might as well painted a target (in reality that is what they did) on the humvee in front of the truck. Before they cut to a commercial the screen went blank and you heard an explosion. Went to another channel during the commercials and didn't make it back in time. Flipped back and they were talking about the 2 soldiers they had lost that day. I am assuming it was RPG as they exploded at least 7 IED's before they starting going up the hill. To all the military past and present, Thank you for all you do!!!!! Green Beret One of the video clears it up, it was an IED.
gibvel Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 To all the military past and present, Thank you for all you do!!!!! Amen!!
az1103 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 What a strange thread....Around here we ride all year long !!! :sun:
joer Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Yeah it really is a shame when you have to put our best friend up for the winter. You sit out there in the garage/shed and just stare at it wondering if she'll start in the spring and how bad its going to run the first few.. And then you start remembering all the good times and bad times and the fact that even the worst time is waaaay better that anytime in a cage... Yeah its real hard to put her away for the winter... But cheer up remember there are guys like me that don't have to and we ride all year so we never get to feel that sadness and the thrill of the first ride in the spring!!!..
buddy Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 As long as there is no ice I ride mine year round. Some folk thing I'm nuts? But I enjoy riding it helps me relieve stress every time. You'll never see my motorcycle in front of a Chiropractic office or in my case a nut house:whistling:.

Venturous Randy Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Well, the local weather just did the prognosis on our winter here. This is official since the wolly worm is used and it is always right. These things are kind of orange and will have black areas. Where it is black, it is supposed to be cold. The one they showed was black on each end and the middle was orange. That means that the first part of winter will be cold, then most will be above average then before spring rolls in, it will get cold for a little while. We have found this to be a lot more accurate then that idiot rodent seeing his shadow. RandyA
