halfwitt Posted October 5, 2009 #1 Posted October 5, 2009 Hey all! I hope everyone has been well. I have not been around much lately - busy, busy, busy... The attached pic os of my father in 1952. Can anyone ID the bike he is on? Thanks for any help!
eagleeye Posted October 5, 2009 #2 Posted October 5, 2009 First of all, what a great picture to have of your dad. My guess is a harley sprint. Steve
halfwitt Posted October 5, 2009 Author #3 Posted October 5, 2009 Thanks! I think you may be right. The tank badge looks like it is probably Harley. I've been searching the web for pictures and I can't match it up exactly. Dad sure was a tough looking guy!
skydoc_17 Posted October 5, 2009 #4 Posted October 5, 2009 What a great moment in time you have there! It looks like an old "Indian" to me. I hope you find out, Earl
Guest tx2sturgis Posted October 5, 2009 #5 Posted October 5, 2009 The .doc file wont open here. Dang.....its a picture i assume? how 'bout hanging it up as a jpg?
halfwitt Posted October 5, 2009 Author #6 Posted October 5, 2009 The .doc file wont open here. Dang.....its a picture i assume? how 'bout hanging it up as a jpg? I need to reformat it when I get home. I scanned the actual photo and pasted into a Word doc.
Yammer Dan Posted October 5, 2009 #7 Posted October 5, 2009 Wouldn't open for me either Randy. You need to slow down and come hangout with us more. Never know when I need another bike loaded.
Cerviperus Posted October 5, 2009 #9 Posted October 5, 2009 Here is the picture that was included in the Word document.
halfwitt Posted October 5, 2009 Author #10 Posted October 5, 2009 Thanks guys! Daughter's tennis season is done - now the tournaments. Then we have two college visits left and life will return to normal. No, wait...still have the guest house to finish remodeling. THEN life will return to normal!
halfwitt Posted October 5, 2009 Author #11 Posted October 5, 2009 Never know when I need another bike loaded. Did you ever get that thing running?
BuddyRich Posted October 5, 2009 #12 Posted October 5, 2009 THEN life will return to normal! :rotf: Define NORMAL..... And then there's your handle...:rotf:
KiteSquid Posted October 5, 2009 #13 Posted October 5, 2009 the tank badge is the same as on my 1950 H-D FL, however the engine is a "flat head" I cant identify it further, But note the narrow fron fender, small front brake and what looks like a siren just ahead of the rear tire. I woulld have to guess tha is it is the saller 700 CC engine. The cars in the bacground look to be form the 30s or 40s but I am not an expert.
Renne Posted October 5, 2009 #14 Posted October 5, 2009 It's a Harley, most likely a "125" but could be a "165", if you could see the cyl. head, the "125" had a slanted sparkplug (to the rear) the "165" plug is vertical. Another "givaway" Is the rubber band suspension a 125....Telescopic forks were later on the 165. Renne
Renne Posted October 5, 2009 #15 Posted October 5, 2009 What did I win? It's the same as my "first" HD..... Renne
aharbi Posted October 5, 2009 #16 Posted October 5, 2009 It appears to be a 1950 Harley 125 Hummer. Renne wins!
Brake Pad Posted October 5, 2009 #17 Posted October 5, 2009 I was going to say, i had the Harley sprint 250, a bigger and heavyer bike
Guest tx2sturgis Posted October 5, 2009 #18 Posted October 5, 2009 I need to reformat it when I get home. I scanned the actual photo and pasted into a Word doc. Oh...Word...thats a windows thing right?
