Midicat Posted October 4, 2009 #1 Posted October 4, 2009 I have noticed this bike in the driveway and thought I should stop in and introduce myself and Ventureriders but it would appear I am too late. It's a clean looking bike and I'm thinking it's a good deal. It looks like he's missing the trunk. For what it's worth... http://stcatharines.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-touring-Still-available-as-of-Sept-19-1984-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ-12000-W0QQAdIdZ150331358
Yammer Dan Posted October 4, 2009 #2 Posted October 4, 2009 He has a pic of the trunk in there. Must be a repaint I thought all 85's were Brown. Looks Good.
slipstreamer Posted October 4, 2009 #3 Posted October 4, 2009 Ya mean I could ask that much for my old 84? Did it sell yet? Actually, I think that was one of the colours for 84, Blue being another one. At least I have seen those colours before. Good luck to him. Cliff
dingy Posted October 4, 2009 #4 Posted October 4, 2009 I would like to have the Kilo speedometer, would make me think it went even faster !!
Yammer Dan Posted October 4, 2009 #5 Posted October 4, 2009 He has a pic of the trunk in there. Must be a repaint I thought all 85's were Brown. Looks Good. Don't know why I thought 85. That is a 84 color. Still looks good. Little high for 84 that could have bad frame and 2nd gear to go.
Venturous Randy Posted October 5, 2009 #6 Posted October 5, 2009 Don't know why I thought 85. That is a 84 color. Still looks good. Little high for 84 that could have bad frame and 2nd gear to go. Yeah, the 2nd gear thing came to mind for me also with 56,000 miles. RandyA
slipstreamer Posted October 5, 2009 #7 Posted October 5, 2009 I think that would be 56,000 Kilometers which is more like 35,000 miles. Pretty low for an 84. Also, I think they fixed the frame problem for the 84s. Second gear is definitely a problem though. Mine is on the way out at about 76,000 Kms Cliff

Some Road Stars and 2nd Gens will be glad to hear that. I ain't gonna tell them about the new transmisson I got!!
Dano Posted October 6, 2009 #9 Posted October 6, 2009 Definately an 84, the trunk and paint job defines that. Must be a Royale because it doesn't have the pinstriping the red 84 standards had (at least mine does).
slipstreamer Posted October 6, 2009 #10 Posted October 6, 2009 I ain't gonna tell them about the new transmisson I got!! Ya mean ya ripped it all down just to replace that pesky washer Dan? Way too much work for me. How many hours did that take? Cliff
