This morning when I turned on the key on my "new" '99 RSV, the factory stock horn started blowing. :starz: There was also a horn sound :confused24:coming from around the left lower fairing. Turned off the key and the horn(s) silenced. I ended up pushing the plug off the stock horn on the lower right side. Now when when I push the horn button there is a pathetic beep from the lower left fairing. It has progressed to the point there is just a click when I push the button. When I got home, after work,I took that lower fairing off and found a cylindrical "thing" covered by a rubber sleeve. It is the source of the pathetic sound when I push the horn button. There is also a (throttle type )cable running into one end of it. Is this a second horn? Before calling it an afternoon, I hooked the right side horn back up. Now it works properly:scratchchin:. I think the gremlins have realized there is no bell on this bike YET!

Yes there are two horns.

I suppose the first thing I would check would be the horn wires - trace them all the way out and look for any bare spots and especially the ground points.

And yes that is odd behavior...

I'm sure someone else will chime in with more helpful information.

The second horn is in the lower cowling on the left side. It looks just like the horn that you can see on the right side though. There is a cylindrical shaped device that sounds like what you are seeing that is actually a vacuum actuator for the cruise control. You may just be hearing sound that is being transmitted through the frame and etc. that makes it sound like that is where it is coming from. What you describe though is not the horn.
