nitespecter Posted September 28, 2009 #1 Posted September 28, 2009 Can someone please tell me where to find instructions on removing the instrument cluster on an 83 venture? My speedo cable came undone and I don't want to break something pulling the cluster to screw it back in. Thanks!
StuD Posted September 28, 2009 #2 Posted September 28, 2009 If i'am not mistaken you can take out the head lite to get at the back of the pannel. :canada:
nitespecter Posted September 28, 2009 Author #3 Posted September 28, 2009 Cool glad to know it is that easy. Thanks!!!
skydoc_17 Posted September 28, 2009 #4 Posted September 28, 2009 If you find that your hands are too big to reach the Instrument cluster (like mine are) then option B would be to remove the chrome trim at the base of the windshield, remove the windshield, remove the cluster cover, (screws are on the sides of the black cover) and remove the nuts on the back of the cluster exposing the speedo cable. This is not a hard job, just time consuming. Good Luck, Earl
nitespecter Posted September 28, 2009 Author #5 Posted September 28, 2009 So I may need this additional info, thanks I would not have known what to do next.
dingy Posted September 28, 2009 #6 Posted September 28, 2009 Attached is a picture showing two 10mm cap screws that hold cluster in place. They are just above the 45 deg angle in the bulb bracket in picture. Use a long extension to reach. You will also need to remove windshield. There are two screws on each side. Gary
nitespecter Posted September 28, 2009 Author #7 Posted September 28, 2009 So just took my lunch and went out and in about 20 minutes had it screwed back in and it works great. Thanks so much for all your advice everyone.
