StuD Posted September 26, 2009 #1 Posted September 26, 2009 Is the piece of frame that the Vin# is attached to (lower right hand side that needs to be removed to slide the motor out) on the 1st gens interchangable???? ie can I take a lower motor frame with Vin# attached from an 84VR & exchange it onto a 90VR ??? :canada:
Venturous Randy Posted September 27, 2009 #2 Posted September 27, 2009 Are you trying to make a 90 appear to match the title off an 84? RandyA
Tupperj Posted September 27, 2009 #3 Posted September 27, 2009 Might fit, but then the vin wouldn't match to the one stamped on the steering head. Paul
StuD Posted September 27, 2009 Author #4 Posted September 27, 2009 Just wondering why they would put a Vin# on a removable piece of frame. How many would bother to check it against the steering head??? Now don't everyone go running out to the garadge & check your Vins :canada:

I would think any discrepancies would create a problem.
Condor Posted September 27, 2009 #6 Posted September 27, 2009 The vin number is also stamped on the neck tube of the frame. That's the one they check on a stolen bike. It better match. It also is something that needs to be checked when buying a used Venture. The vin is also stamped on the engine plate. By law here in California if the engine is replaced a form needs to be filed with the DMV... But nobody ever does it... It's not as easy 'washing' a frame as you think...
