Is the piece of frame that the Vin# is attached to (lower right hand side that needs to be removed to slide the motor out) on the 1st gens interchangable???? ie can I take a lower motor frame with Vin# attached from an 84VR & exchange it onto a 90VR ??? :canada::canada::canada:

Just wondering why they would put a Vin# on a removable piece of frame. How many would bother to check it against the steering head??? Now don't everyone go running out to the garadge & check your Vins :canada::canada::canada:

In this province, any time a motorcycle changes ownership (even from husband to wife) the VIN must be checked by the RCMP before SGI (government insurance) will register/insure it. I would think any discrepancies would create a problem.

The vin number is also stamped on the neck tube of the frame. That's the one they check on a stolen bike. It better match. It also is something that needs to be checked when buying a used Venture. The vin is also stamped on the engine plate. By law here in California if the engine is replaced a form needs to be filed with the DMV... But nobody ever does it... :) It's not as easy 'washing' a frame as you think...
