Yama Mama Posted September 25, 2009 #1 Posted September 25, 2009 I am going to a Willie Nelson concert tonight in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. It is raining and miserable, but this might be my only chance to see him in person, so I am going. I guess I am "CRAZY"! Yama Mama
Snaggletooth Posted September 25, 2009 #3 Posted September 25, 2009 Years back I was traveling and stayed in Austin, Tx for a few days. Took in the local color and made myself at home in a few local places of adult beverage. I was cuddled up at the bar chewing the fat with a local boy and there was someone singing in the background. The voice sounded familar and I went over to take a look at the stage and there he was. Willie. Live and jamming with the the band. Blew me away. I stayed until close and he would sing off and on all during the evening. What a way to see the guy. I've never wanted to go to a big concert to see him after that. I saw him at his best just doing what he does. Can't ask for more than that. Enjoy the show for sure. Hope he does "Stardust". Mike

RedRider Posted September 25, 2009 #7 Posted September 25, 2009 This occasion, of course, brings out the Redneck type jokes. What has 50 legs and 7 teeth? Front row of a Willie Nelson concert. Enjoy. RR
Black Owl Posted September 25, 2009 #8 Posted September 25, 2009 Willie, What more does anyone have to say. Enjoy the show and be sure to give us a wrap up. Wish I was there.
ArcsSparks Posted September 25, 2009 #9 Posted September 25, 2009 Seen him 4 times 2 indoors and 2 outdoors (state fairs) what a showman and someone said something about being stoned well if your not when you get there you will be when you leave indoors it was nothing but a cloud of smoke

Yammer Dan Posted September 26, 2009 #14 Posted September 26, 2009 Have fun Mama!! He is one of my favorites.
Yama Mama Posted September 26, 2009 Author #15 Posted September 26, 2009 We went to the concert. We were probably one hundred feet away from Willy. He looked exactly like he always has. Of course, like all of us he has gotten older. He was not able to sing like he used too unfortunately. I did still enjoy seeing him in person. He sang all of his best known songs. My favorite is Crazy and On the Road Again. There was a huge crowd. We go to the FallFest in Lawrenceburg every year. In the past we have seen Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker, Sarah Evans, and my all time favorite performance was Hank Williams, Jr. The reason the town can get these big country singers is because there is the Hollywood casino right there. :smile11:Yama Mama
Scooter Bob Posted September 26, 2009 #16 Posted September 26, 2009 Glad you enjoyed it. I saw him in Deadwood about 10 years ago. From the pics of him lately, he's aged quite a bit since then. 10 years probably hasn't been kind to the voice box either. Happy Concerting, Scooter Bob
Dano Posted September 26, 2009 #17 Posted September 26, 2009 Lucky you Peggy. I had to go to Phantom of the Opera last night. Put me to sleep. Hey Gary, at least it was a productive night!
