replacing the entire clutch

Perhaps I'm confused about the clutch and clutch basket. Are they the same thing ? I'm starting to get aggravated with the noise ( whine, chirp or whatever) in my 2007 Venture and have seen where some have ordered and replaced the basket. Is that the entire clutch ? or just a part of it ?

 

I did look but couldn't find an answer.

the "basket" is a part by itself which holds the rest of the clutch components.

 

it's like a large cup so to speak.
