1st, before keying up the mic., check to make sure that the antenna with the big black "load" in the middle is one the left side (when sitting on the bike) of the bike and the wire is running to the black box under the trunk.

 

Then do what LilBeaver said. Unless you know a CB operator somewhere around you. I have a handheld so I can check. Maybe go to a truck stop. I'm sure the people in the truck stop would have a CB they wouldn't mind helping you check yours with.

Just a curiosity question. Does it make a difference if the cb antenna is on the left or right? When you are riding the antenna height is the same.

 

As long as the antenna wires run to the appropriate units, no, it does not matter. The antenna with the black deal in the middle needs to go to the CB box under the trunk and the AM/FM antenna (without the black deal in the middle) should have a wire that runs up front to the radio amplifier box.

If your antennas are on the wrong side, they are most likely NOT going to the correct units as the stock cable from the CB would not reach the unit if it's mounted on the wrong side.
