Removing plastichrome fairing accents

I am sure there are a few out there.

Who has removed the plastichrome accents off their fairing? Preferably blue 2007.

Please post picture(s) if you have. I am thinking about taking mine off, but would like to see how it looks first.

You talking about the chrome whiskers on the front fairing?

I pulled mine off a couple of weeks ago and then the 2010 RSV's came out without them.

10 lb fishing line took them right off. Now that double sided sticky tape was not so easy. 3M makes some adhesive remover that sure made it a lot easier than it could be without it. It was stuck pretty good.

I think it looks better without them. Not particular fond of the flames that the 2010 bikes have on them. It seemed to clean up the front fairing to me.

 

My bike is a Midnight and I do not have any photos as of yet and won't be back home till Wednesday to get some photos. Not sure it would help any since you got a Blue/Black RSV.

 

Go ahead...rip them off...you will like it. You can put them back on if you don't.

Yep, that's what I am talking about. Just hate to take them off then want to put them back on. Not that I think that would happen.

I had mine left off when I had the fairing repaired and painted. Looks a lot better without but kind of plain. I intend to have something painted on it to dress it up. I don't have any pics right now but can send you some tomorrow.

I just learned how to turn this computer on so I can't post pictures, but if you go to my albums (2002 RSMV Sylvester) you will see what it looks like. I took them off in 2002.

Like most, I don't have pix but I removed mine (2008) about two weeks ago after much though and I like it. Seems to have a cleaner look. I always thought they kinda looked like an afterthought. Used the fishing line technique etc etc...

If you can take themn of with some care, the can be reused as an accent on the top of the saddle bags...

Is anybody interested in letting loose of the chrome whiskers on the front fairing?

 

I have a potential use for them. They may get destroyed in the process of trying to get them to work.

 

PM me if interested of getting rid of them.
