Whitlow Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 So as you might know I just got my 03 RSV and it now has stock exhaust I wanted to get it a bit louder but not real loud. Has anyone do any type mod to there exhaust. I got a pair of Sampsom Fishtails with the bike but was told they are LOUD!!!!
BigBoyinMS Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Do a search on here for Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3. Also do a search for "Road King". The "Stage" mods involve drilling or removing parts of the original mufflers. You can also replace the factory mufflers with Harley Tour mufflers for a little sound. A member here sells the adapter brackets.
SilvrT Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Harle Road King's slip right on and give a nicer sound. Do a search on here ... there's ton's of info.
jburrell Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 If you want a slightly louder muffler you can drill out your original pipes, installl RKing slip on's or try one of the may aftermarket mufflers out there like BUBS/ Barons etc. I have a set of RK complete with the needed mounting brackets that I will let go for $60. The brackets are $40 on this site. I originally drilled out my original pipes and they sounded good then tried the RK pipes and that was better. Now I have the Baron's Nasty Boy 4-2-4's with SCalloped Tips.and they are exactly what I wanted so I have a set of original drilled out pipes and the RK sitting in the garage gathering dust. Everything depends on what look/sound you are looking for.
Whitlow Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 I have the Sampson Fishtails already how hard is it to change them? Do I need to remove the saddlebags? It looked to me like I could get to everything with out taking anything off. Fill me in. Thanks
BigBoyinMS Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 There are only 4 screws holding each bag on... it's easier if you remove them. Then there is a clamp to loosen that holds the muffler to the front pipe and a bolt at the rear holding the muffler up.
