Whitlow Posted September 16, 2009 #1 Posted September 16, 2009 Can you all help me with finding a good GPS mount for my RSV? Maybe pictures of yours. Thanks
BoomerCPO Posted September 16, 2009 #2 Posted September 16, 2009 Garmin makes the best GPS mounts IMHO. If you have a Garmin GPS those folks will bend over backwards to help you out. Boomer.....who never leaves home without his Garmin and American Express.
Wizard765 Posted September 16, 2009 #3 Posted September 16, 2009 Ram mounts have MC mounts for almost everything and they are excellent. http://www.ram-mount.com/ Wayne
ablumny Posted September 16, 2009 #4 Posted September 16, 2009 I have my Garmin 2720 (and Sirius Radio) mounted to my handlebar with short body ram mounts. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SkYU88bxLyI/AAAAAAAACac/fC2YRYO6U9A/s800/P6270652.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SgcFVKKs-hI/AAAAAAAAB8Q/XCe8Xjfx3l0/s800/P5100251.JPG I have since replaced the white home grown bar clamps with Ram mount U clamps, but u get the idea.
Skid Posted September 16, 2009 #5 Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) I got my Ram Mount off ebay for $39.95 complete. Edited September 17, 2009 by Skid
The Black Pearl Posted September 16, 2009 #6 Posted September 16, 2009 Mine is a ram mount off the front brake res mount and it looks and works great there out of the way but close at finger tips just my 2 cents (got it cheap on ebay)
dingy Posted September 16, 2009 #7 Posted September 16, 2009 Probably won't work on newer ones. Brazed a nut to the handlebar nut. Heavy Duty velcro. saw similar idea on here or other web site. They had used a coupling nut in place of handle bar nut. This nut is odd size, could not find coupling nut that would work. Radar detector mount is made out of two old mirrors cut & brazed together and a new mounting plate.
Sling Posted September 16, 2009 #8 Posted September 16, 2009 I have a Garmin Quest II and I mounted it up with the Ram mounting system
Celt Posted September 17, 2009 #9 Posted September 17, 2009 Another ram mount here, from these guys http://stores.shop.ebay.com/MF-X2__W0QQ_armrsZ1 . free shipping and quick delivery even to Canada .
KiteSquid Posted September 17, 2009 #10 Posted September 17, 2009 I just use the suction cup mount that came with my Garmin GPS and stick it to my RSV's windshield...
Rick Butler Posted September 17, 2009 #11 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) Well Guys, The cleanest ram ball mount I have found is made by Motorcycle Larry and is a replacement brake or clutch reservoir cover with an extention that will take a standard Ram ball. When I first saw one, it was on a ST1300 and when I looked at his site, I saw that they only made them for Hondas, BMWs and only the FJR for Yamaha. And when I called they were not interested in the start up cost to make one for our bike, so I was S O O Luck. But then later a friend brought a ST1100 that he had just bought by my place to look over. That's when I noticed the reservoir cover looked alot like ours. So I went and dug out an old one from my spare parts bin....and it was the same. So I ordered 2 single ball mounts for a ST and everything mounted up just fine. With a ball on the reservoir cover, the short and medium Ram arms work out perfect. http://www.motorcyclelarry.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_4&products_id=8 Oh, the ones he makes now does not have the MCL engraved on the cover. Hope this helps, Rick Edited September 17, 2009 by Rick Butler

Hope this helps, Rick Rick, I saw yours at the International Rally at the Hub. Looked great, much better than the Ubolt that comes with the mount. I just ordered one for my bike. Thanks for this info.

scotty Posted September 27, 2009 #15 Posted September 27, 2009 I am such a cheapskate I built my own mount. Nothing more than a chunk of flat iron and a fuel line clamp from an 8.3 L cummins. Visible just above the handlebar and close enough to the windshield that it only got the odd drop of rain on it during light to moderate monsoons with some hail.
hunter 1500 Posted September 27, 2009 #16 Posted September 27, 2009 I like my ram mount. On my last bike the ram mount and the fairing made a perfect drink holder.
atlm Posted October 23, 2009 #17 Posted October 23, 2009 I just bought a Garmin Quest 2, and the mount setup like Sling's. The best price I found for the hard-wired GPS cradle for the Quest was from Amazon ($45 with free shipping), and for the RAM assembly from GPS City (about $30 shipped with the 4-hole square plate). While I was buying everything, I ended up buying a second Garmin Quest 2, which I don't need (long story). I'm not sure what to do with it, so I'll probably post it in the classifieds or something.
