Has anyone changed out the speakers on their bikes so that they can hear the rock music better? Country music you can understand but if you try to listen to anything else you can't understand it at high speed. It sounds like rap music when you are at the speed limit.

Many of us have changed the speakers. I went to Pioneers and then to Polks. Both were better than stock but I was still not really happy with the sound. The stock unit just really doesn't have enough power to drive a speaker that requires more and the fact is, you just can't get great sound from a 4" speaker. I finally went with Edsets headsets and am finally pleased with the music.

Everything you say seems "normal". For those who listen to "country" music, it's meant to be played at slow speed, it makes it easier to understand the words. Conversely for us, good "rock" music is meant to be played at normal listening speed. I suggest you run in 3rd or 4th gear, get the rev's up there, your motor will sync with the music, you just have to find the "groove". Everything will come together the faster you go,,,kinda like "warp speed"

I had the part # for a pair of bazooka's but haven't search for it yet . Has anyone tried them? I have a tight budget and speakers are on the bottom of the list , but it is a short list :happy34:

I have found that when using headsets I have to adjust the bass and treble differently than when I'm using the bike speakers. When using the speakers, I set the treble at +5 and bass at -1. When using the headsets I set the treble at -3 and the bass at +3.

This helps my ability to hear all kinds of music better. Also, when I listen to music from my IPod through the speakers, I can understand and hear it better than when listening to a powerful radio station.

Hope this helps a little anyway.

i have polk 401's with the bass blockers and boom mats. the bass blockers really helped,i can turn it up to the high 20's, but remember you will only get so much out of a 4 inch speaker. it made a differance on mine, i can hear the tunes fine at 75 running with barrons 4-2-4 pipes.

I've been wanting to do the same on my 84. I already swapped out the stock stereo for an old Pioneer I had. I'm also looking for a good way to add rear speakers that won't look gaudy or just plain funny.
