yamahamer Posted September 15, 2009 #1 Posted September 15, 2009 I have started but need to know will a RSTD back rest fit or do I just need to make one? http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/9-12-09022.jpg
CMIKE Posted September 15, 2009 #2 Posted September 15, 2009 I don't know but I hope so... Man that looks cool... Be sure to keep us posted on the progress.
Seaking Posted September 15, 2009 #3 Posted September 15, 2009 I have started but need to know will a RSTD back rest fit or do I just need to make one? Is it just a matter of taking the rear trunk and antennas off? You should be careful, people might confuse your bike for a HD.. I debadged my Midnight and I get a lot of "oooh nice Harley"... Ok thanks.. I think..?
RandyR Posted September 15, 2009 #4 Posted September 15, 2009 Here's a pic of a Millenium RSV on ebay recently.
jfoster Posted September 15, 2009 #5 Posted September 15, 2009 You'll need the roller attachments, that screw into the side of the chrome bracket. The backrest has the quick release built into it.
yamahamer Posted September 15, 2009 Author #6 Posted September 15, 2009 Anybody got a back rest laying around for a RSTD?
RandyR Posted September 15, 2009 #7 Posted September 15, 2009 One from the early model Tour Classics may be easier to fit?
Sideoftheroad Posted September 16, 2009 #8 Posted September 16, 2009 See, now why mess around w/ a Strat Deluxe (yes like the looks of that too) when all you have to do is remove the back end stuff and you end up w/ a great looking machine like that. Call it like you want, either a trunkless Venture or a full fairing tour deluxe. Got 2 thumbs up from me.
yamahamer Posted September 17, 2009 Author #9 Posted September 17, 2009 The saga continues. I got all my wireing redone and got her back together last night and went for a short ride......I love it! I was able to take the 12 foot wire for the antanna and make a loop inside the faring. So radio works with no antanna. http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09023.jpg http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09024.jpg http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09025.jpg http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/THE%20BLACK%20BEAST/9-12-09026.jpg
Seaking Posted September 17, 2009 #10 Posted September 17, 2009 wow.. "Go big or stay home" That's going to be an interesting bike when you're done for sure!!
N3FOL Posted September 17, 2009 #11 Posted September 17, 2009 Very nice project brewing there. Best of luck and don't forget to post pics on the finished bike. As I was looking at the new 2010 models, I saw a nice Stratoliner Deluxe with fairing and a shorty windshield. Very sharp!
wes0778 Posted September 17, 2009 #12 Posted September 17, 2009 One from the early model Tour Classics may be easier to fit? I'm in the process of putting an aftermarket trunk on my 1998 Tour Classic, wanna trade your RSV trunk bracket for my back rest? Walter

Walter I'm not getting rid of the trunk just yet. But let me know if you want to sell it. I have a bid on one on flebay right now.
FreezyRider Posted September 17, 2009 #14 Posted September 17, 2009 I'm in the process of putting an aftermarket trunk on my 1998 Tour Classic, wanna trade your RSV trunk bracket for my back rest? Walter There are a couple of racks on ebay right now. Pinwall Cycle has them listed at $149 each. Joe

What I'm looking for is the rack/frame that mounts the trunk to the bike. --------------------------------------- Disregard!!! I FOUND it... Edited September 17, 2009 by wes0778
yamahamer Posted September 18, 2009 Author #16 Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) No back rest yet but back on the road! http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h37gwhj3ds [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h37gwhj3ds]YouTube - star glide 005[/ame] http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/starglide001.jpg Edited September 18, 2009 by yamahamer
BigBoyinMS Posted September 18, 2009 #17 Posted September 18, 2009 Make it a solo seat with a backrest and you have exactly what I have been planning for months. That is a great look and you did a great job! If I just had room for 4 bikes...
craigatcsi Posted September 18, 2009 #18 Posted September 18, 2009 That REALLY looks nice!! I noticed in your video, that your brake light seems to flash, is it just the camera? Also, it sounds like your engine has a 'lug' to it kinda like a V-Twin. How'd you do that? craigr

screamstone Posted September 18, 2009 #21 Posted September 18, 2009 Holy schnikeys that looks sweet!!! I'd ride that anywhere!!! I love my MM, (and it's trunk), but if I had to get a second bike, THAT would be it. Looks AMAZING!
yamahamer Posted September 24, 2009 Author #22 Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) I just lost another backrest on Ebay! I bought one off a road star and plan on making it work for now. Edited September 26, 2009 by yamahamer

CMIKE Posted September 25, 2009 #24 Posted September 25, 2009 The brake light is just a spinner bulb I got off E-bay. Took the baffles out and idle down some. Check this post for before and after sound. baffles out of bub exhaust - VentureRider.Org Man the bike looks great...You did a fantastic job. Be careful idle her down...slower you idle...the less oil pressure she makes. I know it sounds great like that but you would not want to damage the engine. I had one of those spinner bulbs at first and my buddies said they could not tell if I was stopping or not with it...so I got scared and took it out. If fact I got 2 of them hanging on the wall not being used anymore. Just be careful with them. Again Great job on the bike.
