MK 1 vs. MK 2

I may be picking up a 1987 Royale this week. I have only owned 1983's (5) till now. My question is how many parts are interchangable? Or, what is NOT interchangable? Are the diapham/slides interchangable? How about wheels/tires, brake lines, electricals etc.?

OK a lot of parts ARE interchangeable but a lot isn't as well. The big difference is 1200 vs 1300 motor, but most, if not all, of the covers are interchangeable. The Brakes are not interchangeable, but the hydraulic clutch parts are. Body parts are mostly interchangeable but some require switching other parts as well.

 

Any MK1 can be updated to a MK2, with some parts changing. As far as the wheels and rims, yes, but you have to change the rotors.

Slides/diaphrams to start with. How about coils, carbs, rearend, forks. I'm going to use my 83 for parts. So I want to tear it down, box it up, and keep the parts I can use.

Dealt with both. Carb slide should be fine, jets are different I believe.

Mounting for trunk/bags different (obviously).

Forks are different, hydraulic vs electronic anti-dive.

Wheels will interchange, but brake discs will not.

Also, the plastic cover on the other side of the rear wheel from the disc is different.

Really a pain to find that out when you try to do a swap. DAMHIKT.

I suspect electrical anti dives work better as far as brake action, but I hear they take a lot of power when you are usually idleing.

MK I calipers are different from MK II's.

Electronic Anti-Dive is better, but the Calipers don't interchange.
