GG54172 Posted September 11, 2009 #1 Posted September 11, 2009 I have an anniversary coming up about the same time I will be spending 2 weeks in Moline. Thinking about a working vacation (Free hotel, and food for me). I live about 1.5 hours from Moline so my wife could stay as long or short as she wants. I dunno... There is the John Deere Museum...anything else?
Lobo Hurfiano Posted September 12, 2009 #2 Posted September 12, 2009 Hi, I am Lobo Hurfiano's Alpha Female, and am from the Quad-City area. Silvis has Hero Street Memorial, East Moline has John Deere, Moline has sights to see, just for driving around, especially River Drive (on the Mississippi River), and Rock Island has Black Hawk Park. Of course you can cross the river and go to the Casinos. Also, you might head north out on 19th Street, East Moline go toward Rapid City and enjoy the colorful leafs, this time of year. There is a lot to see, just ride and look. Enjoy...........

snyper316 Posted April 27, 2018 #4 Posted April 27, 2018 I’m from there myself. Relatives in nearby Silvis & Rock Island & Davenport! Small world for sure. Well, you can go visit the nations LARGEST arsenal and museum in Rock Island. You’ll find my Great Grandfathers uniform hanging there. A SGT in the U.S. 1st Calvary division part of Teddy Roosevelt’s charge up San Juan hill. From a hill in Silvis you can overlook one of the nations largest freight train yards, the Rock Island Lines that Johnny Cash sung about. Also, check out Black Hawk Museum about the Black Hawk Indians in that region. Still easy to find arrow heads and artifacts near the rivers. i could go on, but there is some history there even though it is truly “hick town” USA. This post is 9 yrs old.... Do they still have the monkeys and the lighted fountains. those used to be so neat of course last time I was in that area my Gramps passed away....

Can someone explain why there are 9 y/o threads still cluttering up things. Should there not be a drop off date where it falls off after a certain time?
cowpuc Posted April 27, 2018 #6 Posted April 27, 2018 Can someone explain why there are 9 y/o threads still cluttering up things. Should there not be a drop off date where it falls off after a certain time? Now this is just my nobody's opinion so take this with the perverbial grain of causious salt but there are a few VR club members around here that consider our club kind of like a "family",,,,, and we prefer to play somewhat differently than the normal, everyday "forums" that may be found on other sites.. This, "Family Oriented", club style manifests itself in many ways and one of the more formidable ways is the uncanny joy a few of us find in keeping pictures and posts around (sort of like some families keep scrap books and family pictures around just for their great memory and sentimental value) from years long gone by... I suppose it is possible as things change that, indeed,,, there will come a time when our sacred memories (to a few) in the form of past posts and pictures will be deemed un-needed and deleted as the times truly do seem to be changing BUT,, I for one,,, would cast my lowly vote for our club's management to hold off on doing so,,,, but I am but one lone voice in a sea of many... Freebird Posted April 27, 2018 #7 Posted April 27, 2018 A lot of the old threads still contain very relevant information. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked to restore pictures in various 10 year old threads. Now the main ones are in the tech talk areas. I could purge threads in the Watering Hole and etc. Right now, the only ones that get purged are the classifieds and links to Ebay forums. The only way I would consider purging threads in any form would be simply by date. I certainly don't have time to go through each and every thread to determine which ones should be kept. That's why it is important to post tech type information and questions in the proper forum. I do delete posts by date every so often and when I do, it is simply by date and some good tech posts would get deleted in the are posted in the watering hole.
SpencerPJ Posted April 27, 2018 #8 Posted April 27, 2018 Thank You Cowpuc and Freebird. and to Cheif Gunner, You might not realize that there is an option to 'Mark all Threads Read', and then you would know to be a tad more cautious in replying to an old thread. I LOVE all the old threads, and from time to time, they continue to keep the same relevant conversation in the correct place. (also, you might correct your signature date to 2018. it reads 2108.
