tbbrider Posted September 9, 2009 #1 Posted September 9, 2009 This is my first RSV(blue 07). It is the 1st bike I've had to make me sweat in the saddle. Is there a way to cut down on the heat.
sarges46 Posted September 9, 2009 #2 Posted September 9, 2009 Two choices that work. Beads, either store bought ones specific for bikes or full size car ones that you cut to size. There are cheap bike ones at wingthings right now. Or a sheep skin. I've used both and found that on the stock 2nd gen seat the beads worked best. On our last trip to the south I used a sheep skin on my corbin and found that adequate.
N3FOL Posted September 9, 2009 #3 Posted September 9, 2009 +1 on Sheepskin. Sounds like you will have fun riding this winter season. Ride Safe.
Mariner Fan Posted September 9, 2009 #4 Posted September 9, 2009 I have the beads in my saddlebag. If it gets too hot I'll just throw it on. Works great!
gibvel Posted September 9, 2009 #5 Posted September 9, 2009 Are you talking about your butt sweating or the heat generated by the engine making your legs and what-not sweat. If it's the first then the guys have covered it. If it's the later, Yamaha makes Lower Wind Vents that mount to the crash bars that you can turn in and out. During the summer you can turn them so the cooler air hits you more. During the winter you can turn them so the cool air doesn't hit you as well and the heat from the engine will have a warming affect.
jdzimme Posted September 11, 2009 #6 Posted September 11, 2009 gibvel, where do these go? do they replace the big fixed lowers around the crash/hiway bar? Jerry
1BigDog Posted September 11, 2009 #8 Posted September 11, 2009 gibvel, where do these go? do they replace the big fixed lowers around the crash/hiway bar? Jerry Here they are mounted....They are hard to see in this pic but look right above the little bell hanging below.
bamico Posted September 13, 2009 #9 Posted September 13, 2009 tbbrider, I have the wind vents that Gibvel mentions on my 07 RSV as well. Makes a huge difference. Cooler in heat, warmer in cold. They mount to the crash bar. I''ve got Kuryakin highway pegs with offset mounts on the bike as well (in case you were wondering about spacing). They do not replace the lower cowlings, but mount to the crash bars and fit into the curved space on the outside edge of the lower cowlings. Hope this helps. Bob
Red Rider Posted September 13, 2009 #10 Posted September 13, 2009 Whats the part # on those? I'd like to get a set..
GaThumper Posted September 14, 2009 #11 Posted September 14, 2009 gibvel's post had a link to the Star site... http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelscitemdetail/5/4/83/408/2009/1/4607/0/0/detail.aspx and another option is the Baker Air Wings http://www.bakerbuilt.com/yamaha.htm http://www.bakerbuilt.com/Photos/Yam%20Roy%20Str%20Ven%20Web.JPG
