davepa Posted September 9, 2009 #1 Posted September 9, 2009 38034.1 Looking to buy a heated jacket liner and gloves, did a search, but did not see a comparison of : warm & safe heated clothing or gerbing heated clothing So has anyone had both , if so, which brand and why... Regards
csogbk Posted September 9, 2009 #2 Posted September 9, 2009 I have Gerbings gloves, jacket liner and pants. The main reasons I went with them is 1. a local dealer and 2. a huge police discount. That being said, I rode almost every day last winter, with temps down into the low 20's and was never uncomfortable. The gloves will cook your hands, the pants make it just tolerable and the jacket liner will have you sweating. YMMV.
RedRider Posted September 9, 2009 #4 Posted September 9, 2009 I have the Warm and Safe jacket liner and gloves along with the dual Heat-Troller. Works great. Have been snowed on a couple of times and just kept going. RR
eazyduzzit Posted September 9, 2009 #5 Posted September 9, 2009 Just as a warning, if you go with Gerbing ask before hand what their policy is if you have a problem and make a note of who you talk to. I spent over $200 dollars for a pair of gloves and had a problem that I never got resolved. You can click on the link in my signature line to read the details. I'll just say I was very unhappy with their service after the sale.
Sylvester Posted September 9, 2009 #6 Posted September 9, 2009 I have had Gerbing for decades without problems. My jacket liner failed after many years and I did not expect Gerbing to replace/repair it. I bought a Tour Master at a bike show and am pleased with the results. I still use Gerbing gloves.
eazyduzzit Posted September 9, 2009 #7 Posted September 9, 2009 I have had Gerbing for decades without problems. My jacket liner failed after many years and I did not expect Gerbing to replace/repair it. If I had my gloves for "many years" I wouldn't expect them to replace them either, but they were brand new out of the box and they wouldn't even check them out.
midnightventure Posted September 9, 2009 #8 Posted September 9, 2009 [ame=http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=503019]FS: Widder sz 46 vest, arm chaps, gloves, controller - ADVrider[/ame] Check this out. Its the same brand as mine which I like real well. They are out of business now.
KiteSquid Posted September 10, 2009 #9 Posted September 10, 2009 Sense I am hard to fit, I would have to make my own. Some info is HERE and [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8108]HERE[/ame]
ctraylor Posted September 10, 2009 #10 Posted September 10, 2009 You can build your own for about 50 bucks. I did and I think there is a thread in here somewhere that explains how.
Sideoftheroad Posted September 10, 2009 #11 Posted September 10, 2009 Suprised Waterbug hasn't jumped in on this one. Website http://www.blazewearusa.com/ that has heated clothes on sale (or at least did). I know Kevin (waterbug) bought gloves and vest for $150
Midrsv Posted September 10, 2009 #12 Posted September 10, 2009 I had the Warm-n-Safe jacket and it was replaced once due to the stitching coming apart. After the second one did the same thing I switched to the Tourmaster Synergy jacket. It gets much warmer. Dennis
N3FOL Posted September 10, 2009 #13 Posted September 10, 2009 If I had my gloves for "many years" I wouldn't expect them to replace them either, but they were brand new out of the box and they wouldn't even check them out. I also have Gerbings Liner and Gloves. When I got my Venture, I did not have to use my Liner since my body was pretty much protected from the wind. All I needed were my heated gloves. Good quality, but I have no comment if their merchandise fail. For warranty, they have a lifetime warranty due to failure of the heating elements.
GlennTuc Posted September 10, 2009 #14 Posted September 10, 2009 Rode all of last winter with a snowmobile suit and a pair of Cabella cold weather mittens. Rode nearly every day, 60 miles plus. If someone lives in a central state or southern part of IL, IN or OH, that maybe all you need. Glenn
loehring Posted September 10, 2009 #15 Posted September 10, 2009 I've had 'Warm Gear' form 3 years now and they are still like new. I'm also a 365 rider so I get 5-7 day/week use for about 4 months a year. They are made to the same specs as Gerbing but a little less expensive. I love mine. I have the gloves and jacket liner with the dual control. http://cozywinters.com/heated-clothing/
Guest Boomerbiker Posted September 11, 2009 #16 Posted September 11, 2009 I have the Gerbing gloves and jacket liner. Toasty. They survived the crash of '06 with the gloves scratched on the knuckles. Still work like new.
raceman62race Posted September 11, 2009 #17 Posted September 11, 2009 I know some of yall will be riding in much colder temps than I do but I use a riding suit made by Scorpian. It is not heated and it is waterproof. The jacket has 3 zip out liners and the pants have 1 liner. The coldest temp I have ridden in was 26 deg F for about 80 miles and I didn't come close to being cold. I do ride an RSV which keeps a lot of the wind off of me. I bought the suit at Mountain Adventures in Conyers GA. The entire suit cost me slightly over $400.00. I would think that I could ride in the teens all day long without getting cold. I have been well pleased with it but in GA, we rarely see temps in the 20's.
