MasterGuns Posted September 20, 2009 Author #26 Posted September 20, 2009 Rick, No big deal as my plan for replacing the shift cam on the 19th got delayed. I had emergency surgery on Wednesday the 16th and am out of commission for the time being; doctors orders (perhaps 10 days). All I know, at this point anyway, is I have to install these shift cam parts before I head out to the Texas Meet (Big Bend) ride. Keep in touch.

Wow, I hope things are ok and you get better soon! heh, I threw my back out and have been with the chiropractor tues, wed and thurs and going back monday. She is closed on friday. Pinched a nerve in my spine and it still hurts like hell, across my back, down my arm and into my fingers. Very hard to sleep.
lonestarmedic Posted September 21, 2009 #29 Posted September 21, 2009 Hey Herb, I have next weekend off. The first one in months!!! I could ride up and slap the old girl together if you like. Maggie says I need to get out of the house and ride anyway. She will be working all weekend. JB
MasterGuns Posted September 21, 2009 Author #30 Posted September 21, 2009 OMG, what an offer JB. All I can say is that if you are willin, I'd love to have you up to "take charge" of this shifter cam install. I've never been in there and don't have the experience. You have a home away from home, too; extra bedroom if needed and if you prefer your privacy, you could even stay in the motorhome. I even would love to pick all and I mean all, your expenses for the trip up. Let me know. I would also like to ride some of the way back with ya. Thanks so much.
lonestarmedic Posted September 22, 2009 #31 Posted September 22, 2009 Ok- let me see if I can depart San Antonio early Friday afternoon. I get rid of this group of students in the AM. If so, I can make it in before rush hour up there. I sure as heck ain't worried about the money. So, don't insult me - just feed me I need the very smallest of excuses to get out and ride. Trust me, 25 miles a day to and from work just don't cut it. The carbs are gummy and need Sea Foam. The tires need heated up, and the pipes need de-carboned. And I need some road time like you wouldn't believe. All I need is a place next to the dog on the porch. JB
lonestarmedic Posted September 22, 2009 #33 Posted September 22, 2009 More like feeble excuse to ride, go eat and drink. I seem to remember Herb helping out a young man in front of a train station one afternoon. As always, things go around. My time will come someday. Besides, I intend to eat Herb out of house and home, make fun of his Harley, and scare his neighbors!! However, can't make fun of his bike. Just almost seems like making fun of my own. JB
GigaWhiskey Posted September 22, 2009 #34 Posted September 22, 2009 Yes he did and that was crimsonknight, I remember it well. You helped me, texasyamahamomma and prolly a few other people on MX day. Hope to see you and many others again someday. Sorry if I am hijacking Herbs thread.
trankenator Posted February 5, 2010 #35 Posted February 5, 2010 So I'm in the middle of this pin repair thing. I was completely missing 4th and 5th gear after opening it up and getting it all exposed sure enough one of the pins was missing. After putting in the new parts I tried to see if it could now shift in 4th gear with no problem but It still wouldn't shift all the way in. It almost got all the way in though. It also wouldn't down shift all the way to 1st. after a little messing around with it and trying to get it to shift. It got to the point where it would only shift fully into 3rd is this normal when it's all apart or is something seriously wrong? I'm getting pretty nervous that I was completely screwed on buying this bike. I'm not sure if I just need to put it back together for it to start working again. Or did I do something to somehow ruin it even more?
Squeeze Posted February 5, 2010 #36 Posted February 5, 2010 When trying to shift the Bike an the Stand, you someone to turn the rear Wheel. Depoending how the Dogs on the Gears stand to each other, you won't get one or two Gear engaged.
