wes0778 Posted September 7, 2009 #2 Posted September 7, 2009 Nice Bike!!! And the ignition key is not in the heat like mine, but I hope they don't start it, 'cause there is no oil in the sight glass...
dksmith196958 Posted September 7, 2009 #3 Posted September 7, 2009 good eye ... it doesnt show any oil on the lean but if you stand it up it may...looks like a nice bike has a lott of miles left in it:2cents:

thumper1 Posted September 7, 2009 #9 Posted September 7, 2009 i've owned 4 of those things over the last thirty years and had a great time on every one. except for the cam chain problems that always developed they were fun bikes. ride safe and be cool, thumper1
BOO Posted September 8, 2009 #10 Posted September 8, 2009 Yep Yep I had one of those also, 1978 650 special, not "heritage" just a special and the color was a purple sort of. Nice little bike, put several thousand miles on it, bout like riding a Triumph or BSA but fun. Mine had a chain oiler---actually a seal was leaking on the shaft of the primary sprocket and it would sling oil all over the back of my tee short or whatever I happen to be wearing. Kept the chain oiled though. Also had a 1100 midnight special but that's for another thread. BOO
Guest tx2sturgis Posted June 29, 2010 #11 Posted June 29, 2010 Nice Bike!!! And the ignition key is not in the heat like mine, but I hope they don't start it, 'cause there is no oil in the sight glass... Wow...yep good eye, but the bike was leaning pretty far to the left, thats a sloping drive there.
DragonRider Posted June 29, 2010 #12 Posted June 29, 2010 One of the best looking bikes Yamaha ever built...........they ought to do a retro, I bet it would be a big seller for beginners and those who had one and wished they hadn't sold it......
BOO Posted June 29, 2010 #13 Posted June 29, 2010 Interesting that this came to the top again. I noticed the local dealer has one also and it's in the color I had. It is for sale, $3,500.00. Think I paid around $500 for mine with some 6,000 miles of course it was a few years ago. BOO
