As an owner of both an '07 RSV and an '03 Ultra Classic I can say that each has its own strong points. I like the room and comfort of my RSV and I like the liquid cooled V-4. I like the way the Harley feels in the city with the torque and responsive slow speed handling. They both perform well on the highway and are good touring bikes. Either one can be as loud or quiet as you want it to be. I am looking very closely at consolidating down to one bike and it will probably be a 2010 Harley Ultra Classic Limited. With the new frame they are very close to the RSV in leg room, it comes standard with ABS, a larger motor and heated grips, passing lamps and luggage rack, throw in the fuel injection and a modern audio package and it compares very well against an RSV with the only major difference being the price and as mentioned earlier you can pick that up on the back end. If you want to spend money on chome and accessories you can do that, but you don't need to. IMHO

I said it in an earlyier post--They all have their quirks. I'm sure we all agree with that statement. The one thing I do like about HD is the fact that they have a lot of accessories to choose from to make the bike your own. You can buy Kuryakyn aftermarket accessories also at a lower cost than from the dealer. Yamaha had a contract with Drag Specialties in 86 that was suppose to be for 2 yrs and then accessories were to be available aftermarket. Yamaha pushed them into another 2 yr contract, so no dice buying other than from yam. at a higher price. I never did get everything I wanted for the bike because of that contract. You can also buy the same accessories for the Wing from Kuryakyn aftermarket.

Yam. needs to step up on their thinking on several aspects.

I looked at the accessories catalog at home for the RSV from Yam. , and I'm disapointed to be honest. Don't get me wrong---I still think the RSV is a great bike. Just pointing out some of the things I've noticed.

Most people looking at Harley's are doing so because their friend, uncle or whomever has one and they are buying into the Harley mentality. I'm not knocking the bike or those who ride them, at least not all the riders, I just don't understand this Harley mentality. The more I hear Harley's on the road with the ear deafening pipes the more I dislike these people. The more fat (I'm over weight too) Harley riders I see riding down the road with their guts hanging out of their too small t-shirt and a cigarette in their mouth the more I dislike Harley's. The attitude of our s**t don't stink but yours does because you ride a Yamaha is getting real old. Last time I walked into a HD dealership to see if they had something and the guy laughed when I told him what I drove was the last time I've been in a HD place.

I have several friends who ride Harley's and they don't fit this mold and I know not all do. But unfortunately there are enough HD riders to create a most unfavorable impression amongst many people.

That said, HD has a marketing strategy I wish I could emulate in a business. They know how to make money.

I agree with this statement. Most of my riding friends have harleys, and although they are friends my venture is not up to their standards as being a REAL motorcycle. Just yesterday we took a ride up to the flight 93 memorial and all had harley's except my wife and I on our venture. Well when we hit the mountains, I said I said to my wife this is where the venture shines, and away we went, left them in my dust. I know first hand the harley mentality. I'm not here to bash anyones bike and I don't ,but I do get tired of being not good enough, just because I ride a different bike. Same treatment when on my vulcan. Motorcycling is a sport/hobby the way I see it. The highlight of my day when we took a break to fuel up I saw another venture rider and his wife. I go to a bike night once and a while and a guy who grew up in the neighborhood years ago says, hey how have you been, I said fine thanks, he says what are you riding, I said an 02 midnight venture and he said oh and walked away. Torqed me somewhat, but wife said let it go. I feel like rodney dangerfield,I tell you I get no respect.:cool10:

11. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably a wise investment.

i have never ever felt inferior to a harley rider cuz i always had a better bike. i had 4 harleys, and i'm not knocking harleys, but the three road bikes i have now are far superior to any harley in technology, value, and tecnology, and value. no comparison when it comes to either. if a harley was better overall i would be riding one. i may be conservative when it comes to politics, but when it comes to high tech engineering i want the very latest, and harley has a long way to go. a few examples are water cooling, four valves per cyl. shaft drive, overhead cams, unit construction, etc. the v-rod with the porshe engine is a start but it is butt ugly and the harley guys won't even claim it. i can never pay more for a lesser bike. harleys are well finished and have a big choice of models, but underneath all the awesome bling it's still the same old archaic engine and transmission design that has been around before i was born. i don't look down at folks who have harleys i figure to each his own. i would'nt trade my 1300 v-star even for a brand new harley, and thats a fact. it ain't the bike i can't afford. i would'nt have any money left for the harley toilet seat and the costume. just a joke. :depressed:

I test drove the new HD 2010 model and I have to say its pretty nice. I do not like the idling part at red lights feels light the handle bars are going to jump out of hands but on the open road it has a smoother ride than the Venture but no where close to my Wing. HD 2010 model has less room and smaller seat than the Venture. 2010 has good low end torque but as good as the venture or the Wing. Over all its a nice bike but I have to stick with my Wing for long trips.

I asked the sales man how long can I ride the 2010 model HD before any major work needs to be done and he said oh around 70,000 miles before you have to replace the rings and gaskets. OK I think I'll stay with the Venture & Wing

He asked how many miles do I have on my Wing & Venture? I said 55,542 mi on Venture and 82,286 miles on the Wing, he said I already pretty much worn those bikes out? LOL LOL yeah right.

I seen Wings well over 250,000+miles and Venture in the 150,000+miles and still going strong.

I like the HD touring bikes. I would Like to own one but I wont pay the $$$ that they want .

Besides I waiting to see if and when the new Venture come out if I want to buy one or not:think: be funny it come out with the new 1800 motor but have a butt ugly body like the Vision:headache: or better yet the Second Gen. becomes the new out cast and the first gen. be classic antiques.

But in all I really don't care what you ride, I love looking at bikes no matter what brand it is:), every bike is different....And I love to ride!!!!!:happy34:

So, did Harley introduce their water cooled V4 engine finally? if not, then the 2009 Royal Stars are 30 years ahead of the Harleys already.....

:dancefool:

Look up Harley's Nova engine program...... GREAT idea, too bad the did not put it in production .

I like the radiator placement!!!!! it would keep the driver cool in the summer!!!!!!!
