jasonm. Posted September 5, 2009 #1 Posted September 5, 2009 For those of you who have done valve adjusts and timing checks . You know that the chrome cover on the engine's generator cover must be remove when manually turning the crankshaft. You also know there is a"special washer" that must be removed. This is part of the "stator cooling" assy.. NOW, which way does this go in. Or does it not matter? It is basically a washer w/ 2 sides(edges) slightly angled. And also the center is "pushed thru" as stamped from the factory. Which way should it sit? with the washer looking almost even w/the crank bolt or w/the washer set so the rough center faces out...and not flush w/bolt??? I was doing work on it today and forgot which way it goes. I am such a putz.
SaltyDog Posted September 5, 2009 #2 Posted September 5, 2009 I'm getting ready to install the cooling kit on my '83 and I scanned the instructions so you can see the order and orientation of the baffle plates. The lip faces into the engine towards the stator.
jasonm. Posted September 5, 2009 Author #3 Posted September 5, 2009 Yes, I am speaking of #4. That is what I thought...almost flush with bolt. And ugly side in towards crank. Wow...thanks for the quick response. Hope I remember next time I am doing stuff.
