Maritimer Posted September 5, 2009 #1 Posted September 5, 2009 I have lost voice on my whole system. No CB, no intercom with passenger and no cell phone using Buddy Rich Cable (worked fine before). Not sure if anyone else has had such a problem and where I could look for this. It all started about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if this may be related or not. I had my bike parked in buddy's driveway and his wife backed in my bike on the left side. That flipped the bike on the right and it rolled a fair bit (enough to scratch the top of the fairing and windshield). It may have pulled on the audio cable....not sure. To test I have exchanged helmet with my passenger and still same. I can hear her but she can't hear me. Same goes with the phone and CB, I can hear but they can't hear me. Any idea? I will ask the dealer to look at it under the insurance claim or under warranty....his choice I would think this is covered by warranty...right? Thanks for any suggestions.
SaltyDawg Posted September 6, 2009 #2 Posted September 6, 2009 Something is wrong with the MIC wiring. Either the connector you plug into or where the buddy rich cable is connected. I would split the faring and check take the BR cable out, reconnect the two original cables and check it out. If it's fixed a wire is bad in the BR cable (not knocking the Buddy Rich cable I have had one in for well over a year and it works just fine, but things do break) if it's not fixed then it's a problem with the Venture wiring. Either way if you are going to get a dealer to look at it I would take the Buddy Rich cable out or they just might consider it grounds for voiding the warranty. Not saying they would, but they could make a case for it. Kinda like breaking a seal on an electronic item. Sorry no one has replied to this before now. Usually people respond quicker. I have been out all day and just logged on. Good Luck.
Marcarl Posted September 6, 2009 #3 Posted September 6, 2009 Check your headset,,,,where the mic plugs into the helmet unit, check the pins in the joning plugs and then also where the cord joins in the bike cord. Check all the pins to be sure they are not bent.
Maritimer Posted September 6, 2009 Author #4 Posted September 6, 2009 Thanks Wayne and Carl I have split the fairing and tested all connections. They all seemed tight. So I unplugged everything inside the faring and out at the GPS mount and something must have been out of connection cuz now it works. I had tried that before with no joy but this time it worked OK. Thanks, matter closed.
