Ok, I just saw my first close up of a 2000MM on Ebay and I gotta know if the (Instrument pod with tachometer and water temp guage) is available anywhere. This is located on the switch cover and looks really cool to me. Anyone know if this part is still in production or why its not on later versions?

:fingers crossed:

That was manufactured by a gentleman on another site.

I think he has passed away and nobody else has

ever started making them again. I ask about that for my

MM a few years ago. very cool.

I too saw that picture of the dash and there was a discussion about it in another thread. Freebird said the guy has long passed and the dash is no where to found.

I did steal an idea from AlbertaClipper and made a dash similar to his.

I am going to try to attach pictures to show what I have done. He removed and relocated his ignition switch I chose not to. Getting the key in and out can be fun but I sure didn't want to relocate the ignition.

Having the gauges at and angle would go a long way in fixing the key problem. I also painted mine with a wrinkle finish because I like it and it did hide any imperfections.

Here's money making project for someone who's familiar with fiber glass molds and stuff. Do one for the RSTD and RSV both.

I am going to look into just that after the PIP week end.

My son-in-law works for a very large plastic and rubber company, in fact it is the largest in the US. He told me the design and production, not alone the liability would be astronomical. Therefore I believe that a smart individual could do this under the radar.

I hear what you are saying and no doubt it is true. But, what have we become a nation of cover our a$$'s because someone will sue you for having an idea. Talk about a way to kill productivity, not promote ingenuity, stall the economy and just plain kill ideas before they can become viable job creating products.

Sure glad the heck ACLU wasn't around when tires were invented or electricity was made available. Do you think Edison would be liable for every electrical mishap that ever took place?

OOOPPPPPS went off on a tangent there. OK sue me! I hope no one got hurt

LOL :missingtooth: OK I'll go lay down by my bowl now.

I really don't understand the expense and liability issue. When Robert made these he did pretty well with them. He was not a rich man but he managed to do these. I could probably have them made by the company that I work for as they do a lot of vacuum forming. The only problem I see is that Robert did have a patent on this pod and after he passed away, his wife sold the patent to somebody. I used to know who it was but don't remember now.

That is part of the research and development cost right there!

For the RSV's, the 3 gauges in place of the cassette looks like something a number of people will do. For RSTD's however, the pod is a much better way to go than the handlebars.
