gunboat Posted September 1, 2009 #1 Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) hi folks back at the '09 international rally i meet two new vr riders from baton rouge,la. deeta & joe. i told them about a ride i had been thinking of, to the tobasco plant in new iberia, louisiana, where the hot sauce is made. it is about a 4-5 hr trip from houston. i have only been there by tugboat to pick up salt for barges for the winter road use. i thought this would be a great way to have a m&e with our fellow v/r riders from the great state of louisiana. i would plan on this around the 26'th of september '09. i'll put this out there for everyone's thoughts. on their web site i saw were you can buy a GALLON JUG of tobasco sauce, just found out they now offer a tabasco brand soy sauce, hot da--. www.tabasco.com. best reguards don c. DragonRider Posted September 2, 2009 #10 Posted September 2, 2009 About 18 years ago, I had to make a pickup there, it was a load of Tabasco going overseas to the Middle East, the Gulf War had just started and they were shipping it over for our service men and women. It was aprox 24,000 lbs of that sauce. I got a personal tour of the facility while I waited for them to load my truck..........very cool place. hi lewis i have only see avery island from the intercostal canel. many years ago worked on tug boats. the salt mine/plant was a regular stop to pick up loaded barges with salt. looking forward for the plant tour & gift shop. best reguards don c.

Not a prob Don. It was good for a laugh for Deeta and I . We are going to try our best to attend, but we may have a chance to see our youngest niece and nephew (twins) that weekend. Don't get the chance often enough, so that is the priority. But, and we have our fingers crossed that they are going to do that a different weekend. Joe
