About 1500.

Do you think that is because they are one time visitors and not regulars or they are no longer Venture riders? Un-answerable question I know.

Come on guys & gals belly up and pay the measly 12 bucks to be a member of this fine organization.

Don knew that many folks wouldn't pay the money to be supporting members. This is fine as it makes the site more manageable. There were many members that hadn't been on the site even though they were registered. there were some that joined just to sell a Venture. Those that dont join is their loss, not ours

Got a Q? over a period of time, say a year. The person does not pay the $12.00 for this excellent service, do they loss their name or spot as well?

Yes,

As far as I know, and Don can elaborate if I'm wrong, they loose their name sake if someone else wants it.

Yea...I haven't thought it all the way through yet. At this time, I'm not removing them if they are registered. We still have a few joining all the time. If somebody wants a name that is already taken though, I will generally try to contact that member first and find out if he or she is OK with me re-assigning the name. That is what I did for Dano. That name was taken. I contacted that person and he told me that he had sold his bike and didn't plan to get another one anytime soon.

And I thank you again, Don. Just that one item produced about 3 or 4 days of fun for us! AND lead to another nickname!

Dano, er Danob11, er Vern, er Skinny Squidley!

To tell the truth, I'd rather belong to a smaller group. It does seem more exclusive, and when communicating with the members, I feel that they are more honest and caring. With a lot of the other open blogs, will, there are some really weird people out there that will post anything to mislead others.

At the present rate of support, 1500 members is a small group, when compared to the big picture of 8k names on a list.

I belong to many other forums. Some are open to public, but must register to post. However they can still view the forum. Some you only see the GD section only or the top 5 to 10 topics of selected forums, but other forums are closed off to non-registered viewers and must register to see the Full Monty. And some that you do not see squat unless you register period .

Don , any thoughts in the future that you may choose any of the options listed above , or just keep it as it is ?

i can understand folks not being supporting members, but for those that want to meet new friends, and have something to do 24-7 this site is a bargain for 12 friggen dollars a year. you can even slip one by don, and the moderators once in awiile. snarley bill :clap2::clap2::clap2::2133:

i am lucky to be mechanically inclined. our RSV is my 4th bike. after we bought it, i found this site. i have several hobbies that i enjoy and belong to other sites. this site just beats the paint off the competition's gas tank. once i saw the resources in the libraries and the forum help from other members, it was a no brainer to pony up the dues. then i began reading the forums and found how the comradery was here. there is none of the other kinds of word exchanges that go on with other sites, especially the general open forums.

the ability to go to a Meet, greet then eat is something you just can't get with other forums. as with people, the differences in opinions can make for hearty conversations, but the folks here know when it is the decent time to drop some discussions (although it may be with the help of the moderators).

And for that, i thank everyone. With our current schedules, getting to a Meet & Eat is tough but we hope to make some.

The way it is set up right now is that you must be a member to post after your free trial ends. Non-members CAN read all posts but cannot use the search feature. I think it's a good compromise. It just seems that we would want folks to be able to read so that they can see what a great group you all are.

Awww, shucks!

Seriously, though......One good maintenance tip or repair fix, a recommendation for a particular part or vendor and it's way worth the $12 (and that IS after all for the whole year!!!!!!) AND, that doesn't even count the discount I get at the Dairy Queen!

(ok, the DQ discount is really because I'm a senior and I look pitiful when I go up to the register....sorry)

Being on the West coast I'm a bit far to meet most of you folks....But you seem like a fine group and your knowledge of the Venture is impressive....So I intend to stick around....

It does seem that there are very few activities, or members on the west coast. I guess that there were not enough members at the last meet & eat on the west coast, they moved the next one to Cody Wyoming.

I don't have a bike anymore but will alwalys support this great family. Hopefully someday I'll be back in the saddle of a trike with the doctors blessing.

When in the early talking stages we did think about calling it a Venture West Ride, but too many far-west riders complained. They felt it was too far away and we were treading on sacred Venture West ground. So now the Cody Round-Up doesn't have a thing to do with the west coast, or one of the Venture West Rides, and to date not one of those desenters has stepped up to take the reins and put together a Venture West for '09. Anyway because of all that, the plannning comittee decided to continue on and make it a Cody Round-Up for the Western US, and go have fun. So we haven't moved anything, it's just that nothing has been planned for a VW. And BTW there were quite a few riders at VWIV, but nary a one that complained about the Cody location. Will there be a VWV in the future? Who knows. One thing is for sure someone else is going to have to plan it. BTW we've been just talking about doing another Round-Up out west in another location next year.:thumbsup2:

Opps. I guess I should have said that no one on the west coast wants a meet-n-eat on the west coast. Sorry big guy. ;-)

:sign20: You don't have to be sorry Wiz. I just wish someone would plan one.... :whistling:
