Found at Wally world the "Burners" small chrome foglights that would work great on a motorcycle.

Problem is they draw 100 watts and most bikes dont have that to spare. Swapping down to 35Watt bulbs drops the load to 70 watts but that's not good enough for me.

I work for a company that is on the cutting edge of LED lighting. the image attached shows 2 different lights in the same small Burners foglights.

the white one is a 1 watt white LED matrix, the other is a blinding 3 Watt assembly with focusing lenses. The Image does not show it, but it hurts to look at the Yellow one. I went 1 block down and the bike was incredibly obvious. And yellow is an attention getting color that is legal for the front of the bike.

the white ones are a wide flood, dont light the road any. the Yellow ones light the road.

what do you guys think?

Oh the high power yellow ones draw a total of 6 watts. I can put 3 sets on a bike and still be way under the typical foglight draw.

I love how stark the yellow color is, very attention getting. Note photo was taken in bright daylight. I'll take another tonight.

Where do we get them?? What do we ask for?? I have a set of the Burners. Would like to change bulbs.

I had them made, I am waiting for a quote from MFG to tell me how much for a set of the bulbs.

To make them waterproof you silicone the burners closed, they are LED so they never need a bulb change.

If there is a interest for them here, I'll see how much to get them manufacturered. Maybe I can get a discount. I do knw they are not cheap. the high output 3W LED's are nearly $15.00 each just for the part.

I have a set of 55w Pilot fogs on my Virago that I like and have been thinking of putting the same ones on my VR. There are no other electrical accessories on the Virago and the two @ 110w have not adversly affected the charging system for the past two months that they have been used but that is only at night. The Virago stator is rated at 16 amps, can't remember what the Venture stator is rated at. I'm still a bit leary about running them all the time on the Virago and the VR is not on the road yet.

The Pilot fogs are H3s, what type of bulb can the LEDs replace?

right now it's not a replacement. you have to gut the unit and I designed them specific for the Burners platinum small round chrome lights.

They only work in that fog-lamp housing. I cant use the reflectors of existing lights as it's very inefficient for LED. the only way to get 100% of the light is by using lenses, so a drop in bulb will not be as effective.

I tried making a H3 bulb type LED insert. they dont work as you cant get more than a 1W LED in there and you need a "projector" style lens assembly on the foglight body. anything above 1W needs cooling and you cant fit it in a H3 bulb size.

I run with my fogs on 100% of the time. Too many really blind cagers around here that play the "I don't see you" game. These new yellow ones I designed are outright painful to look at, and in the daytime can't be ignored.

i am interested. i would want to use them to light the sides of the road and possibley as marker lights for side & rear.

the L.E.D. light technology seems to be getting better & better.

thanks for the tip

Looks like a good light. Depending on $$$ I'd be interested also. I would love to see all my lights converted to LED. The military is using LED headlights in some of their trucks.

So, you are thinking of running a pair on each side? That would be cool.

Looks great, and like everyone else, I'd be interested if the $ is right. And your saying that if we already have the burners, what you have would be adapted to them?

Great Job!

I like it. I was thinking about running bright cyan colored LED's for night riding. I guess cyan is the best color for your night eyesight to help pick out objects from my understanding. The bulbs I was looking at need a heat sink on them to cool them though. What do you think about cyan? Now I was thinking if your riding how much cooling do you need on the LED if you had some sort of vent. The LED should be waterproof I would think. What do you think?

I'd like to run amber fogs all the time too but wanted to be sure the Pilots would not be too much for the charging system to handle. If siliconed to waterproof them, how are the LEDs cooled? Looks like those amber ones throw an impressive amount of light. For me I definitely want a fog light pattern and I gather the projector lens focuses the light. If they started out as fogs then the same pattern should be maintained.

This is a very cool project you have started here.:clap2:

Interested here also depending on price. Thanks nice job :detective:

Also very interested. I run higher powered amber fogs on my jeep year round (when needed) on my cage. Gives back lost visual depth. Great idea for the bikes!!

Can you make a set of amber 3W LEDs to replace the stock turn signals in my 2nd Gen RSV?

How about a 3W red to go into the brake light? It would also need some white LEDs to light up the license plate.

I want LOTS more light from my turn signals and brake lamps...

If you need a field tester, I volunteer!!!!!

There is an ebay seller with yellow LED H3 replacements.

He says they draw 4-6 watts

The seller has several styles of LED replacement bulbs. Looks like his are designed to use your stock reflector.

I started looking at yellow bulbs to use in the new light bar I'm preparing to install. Lots of fog here in the Georgia mountains.

If you are going to have something better, I'm certainly interested. I've also thought about mounting fog lights low on the bike with a separate on-off switch.
