Hi Peggy,

Check this out. The attachments below are a copy of my Uncles warranty papers from 1951. He still had the Indian and had just finished restoring it before he passed away last year.

They had just come out with their new engine shortly before going under the last time. It actually looked very nice, don't know how it performed though. From looking at the FAQ page, it appears that the new one will have some version of that same "Power Plus" engine. They had started with S&S engines but did eventually build their own.

I honestly can't see paying a thousand dollar deposit on a bike that you can't see and that the price has not been announced. The FAQ only says that the retail price has not been determined but it is a premium bike and that will be reflected in the price. In other words...MUCH MONEY. :)

That being said, I wish them the best. I wouldn't mind owning one if money were no object.

The same people that revived Chris Craft boats bought the rights to and are bringing back Indian Motorcycles.

These people know how to run a business. The total lack of business sense and knowledge of motorcycles has been the failing of Indian ever since the original founders left the company.

I've always wanted an Indian Chief.

I really like the look of the Indians. It's too bad they have to be so doggone expensive. Yamaha cruisers lend themselves nicely to imitating the look of the Indian. Putting the Indian front fender on a Yamaha bike isn't all that difficult. I have several pictures of bikes done like this. Here are a couple pics of Royal Stars, same model as mine, with an Indian looking fenders. I'd like to do a front fender like this myself eventually.
