cbmel Posted September 21, 2007 #1 Posted September 21, 2007 I've got an 86, and it looks like there used to be a mudflap on the front fender. Yamaha doesn't show it on their parts fiche as a separate item. Anybody know where to get one?
IH Truck Guy Posted September 21, 2007 #2 Posted September 21, 2007 I put one on from Drag Specialties.Looks like it was made for it.I got it for Xmas from my sister in law.I think she said she got it at a Honda dealer..
Condor Posted September 21, 2007 #3 Posted September 21, 2007 Keep an eye out for a beat up old ugly front fender with a flap on Ebay. You should be able to get it pretty cheap....
Guest Popeye Posted September 21, 2007 #4 Posted September 21, 2007 My 86 VR came with front & rear mudflaps & I love 'em, especially the front, as it really helps keep the bike cleaner. However, I seriously doubt either one is original to the bike. Too many of the extra parts on my scoot weren't made by Yamaha.
Condor Posted September 21, 2007 #5 Posted September 21, 2007 Here's a fairly decent looking one about to close on Ebay with the flap. FLAP
mbrood Posted September 21, 2007 #6 Posted September 21, 2007 And they come in plastic "chrome"... just not at THIS price normally! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-90-1987-YAMAHA-VENTURE-ROYALE-FENDER-TRIM-BEZEL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ10066QQihZ016QQitemZ260161040792QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW http://i11.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/b6/e0/6a53_1.JPG
bongobobny Posted September 22, 2007 #7 Posted September 22, 2007 Man, I'll say! Seems to me I've seen them go for close to $100 before. Cmbel, I have one, I think, if you are interested. Just PM me your addy...
MikeM8560 Posted September 22, 2007 #8 Posted September 22, 2007 mine has a black plastig trim with a rubber mud flap on it. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/MikeM8560/Venture%20XVZ12/1984YAMAHA1300f.jpg?t=1190420444
cbmel Posted September 22, 2007 Author #9 Posted September 22, 2007 MikeM850 - The one in the Yamaha parts fiche looks rigid, but I'd settle for floppy, too. Bongobobny - PM sent. mbrood - having been burned once by that ebay'er I'll stay away from that one.
BOO Posted September 22, 2007 #10 Posted September 22, 2007 I have one of those black plastic ones in my garage somewhere and it's in very good condition as I recall. I took it off to put one of the chrome one's on an 89 I had. If anyone is interested in it, let me know and I will try and find it . Jerry

Don't think I'd pay any big price if I had to replace it though. The old 86 VR just isn't going to appreciate in value anymore. It's only going to get older & the mileage will only go up. When a scoot is over 20 years old, it's time to 'start' thinking about replacing it....in a few years.
bongobobny Posted September 24, 2007 #12 Posted September 24, 2007 Wow! $118!! That's a new record I think! I've always had great experience with Sean, he's OK in my book...
