yankeereb Posted August 25, 2009 #1 Posted August 25, 2009 In early July my 08 RSV developed a problem with the starter electronics. When you turn the key on, the bike will start and the starter will stay ingaged without touching the starter switch. Since it is under warrantee I took it to the shop. They have had the bike for over a month now. They have replaced the starter selenoid, a relay, and the handle bar switch. The bike still does the same thing. I told them I thought it was a short in the wiring. Their response was there are miles on wire on the bike and they do not know where to start looking. The have contacted the Yamaha service tech for adivse. But at this time they do not know when they will get the the bike fixed and back to me. The weather is perfect for riding and I have no bike to ride.
Venturous Randy Posted August 25, 2009 #2 Posted August 25, 2009 Man, you must be one patient person. After about a week, I would have been jumping up and down and be damanding a replacement bike similar to mine to ride, or another bike to replace it. With that attitude from the dealer, I would not let them touch anything I have. RandyA
BoomerCPO Posted August 25, 2009 #3 Posted August 25, 2009 Get on the horn and let Yamaha know what you are going through. And don't be afraid to post the Dealer's name and address HERE for all to see. Boomer........who has no mercy on incompetent Dealers and thinks they should be shipped to Egypt to be camel salesmen.
frogmaster Posted August 25, 2009 #4 Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) Anybody have a Cut & Paste of Warranty? I would certainly ask dealer for a loaner bike. 3 cents. Edited August 26, 2009 by frogmaster Below Buddy posted warranty link. I was mistaken.
Steve S Posted August 26, 2009 #6 Posted August 26, 2009 (edited) The best results I ever got with a warranty issue is when I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The phone calls started rolling in. I had my car fixed within a few days. Edited August 26, 2009 by Steve S
skydoc_17 Posted August 26, 2009 #7 Posted August 26, 2009 Hey Gary, As the boys from Nova Scotia can attest to we had his bike at a dealer for 5 days and trailered it to another dealer and they had the bike fixed and out the door in two hours. U-Haul rents a motorcycle trail for $14.99 a day! Get one and haul that puppy to another Yamaha dealer and get her fixed! You're burning sunshine lad! Earl
