tazmocycle Posted August 26, 2009 Share #51 Posted August 26, 2009 i'm not going to be long on my reply, but i went thru some S#@# likethis with my 2nd wife, calls all times of the day about debts. i went to all 3 credit bureaus and put a block on my credit reports stating, if any call for credit apps for anythings comes in, that they personally call me at my home or cell # before giving out your ratings. also have some pass word before giving it out. it puts a hardship on you when buying items you want but it safegaurds your credit. you can also block random credit report given out to junk mailer of your credit rating( the 20 cc or ins offers you get a week in the mail). after 7 years of hassles it's been 3 years of bliss. do the lawfull thing to protect yourself. hope things work out for you and thanks for your service to our country!! Sunman Posted August 26, 2009 Share #52 Posted August 26, 2009 I am wondering, is this just an ex-wife, or is she also the Mother of any of your children? I guess the reason I am asking is, sending an ex-wife to jail is one thing, but your kids would most likely resent you sending their Mom to the bucket. Just wondering. ArcsSparks Posted August 26, 2009 Share #53 Posted August 26, 2009 The irs saved my butt on my divorce. This is the story: Divorced in '79 entered the Navy in '80 12 years in the Navy paid my children support through an allottment (about 2x court ordered, which my ex called a gift), plus carried health insurance on the kids (not court ordered) retired in '92 (12 in the Navy and 8 in the Army), youngest child was 17+ and out of the house so I stop paying. Well the ex went to the court in Iowa and said I never paid dime one (because it wasn't paid through social services) and the court awarded her all the back child support plus 50% penalty, which I paid for 2 1/2 years. Finally contacted my represenative and she (Eva Clayton) said if it's a gift it's taxable and wondered if she had paid the taxes. Well she hadn't and I received about $2700 in CHILD SUPPORT REFUND and she nearly went to jail.
ladyfyrefiter Posted August 26, 2009 Share #54 Posted August 26, 2009 Just thought another female should reply to this. I just finished reading all four pages of the replies and some of the advice is great. Although no where is it mentioned if there are children involved as that would be more difficult to address no matter how you look at it. Remember though, that the IRS can also help you out by garnishing future tax returns of your ex's if you have move that is owed to you that you did not receive when she falsely filed the amended tax returns. Though I am not a lawyer, can't the IRS go after her for falsifying tax returns? That would help some of your legal fees if that route is available. I agree, look into hiring a CPA that will dedicate quality time and possibly more knowledgable advice and service to you (this is not to say that H&R is not useful). On a lighter note, please thank God above for the new woman in your life. Make sure you tell her you love her and above all else, share your thoughts with her so that she is not left out of the circle. It sounds like you have a wonderful lady there and if you share your thoughts about this with her, she will love you all the more (I speak from experience with my current partner, soul mate and love of my life). God will reward you for your caring "nice guy" attitude, although it may take you some time to notice when the reward comes your way. Trust Him. I do and I will send up some thoughts to Him for you. The saying that "nice guys finish last" is unfortunately most often the case but it really feels GOOD when it is all said and done to know that you upheld your integrity. Good luck to you and hope to meet you and your lady friend some day. Karen (Scooter Bob's partner)
