jonsmyth Posted August 23, 2009 #1 Posted August 23, 2009 Anyone know where I can get a rear disk for my 87? And is it the same as a range of other years of the Venture Royal? OEM is backordered, and wants a fortune- $900!
Condor Posted August 24, 2009 #2 Posted August 24, 2009 Check out an EBC rear rotor. Much cheaper. There are quite a few EBC dealers online that discount. Used are available off Ebay from time to time.
Vonwolf Posted August 27, 2009 #4 Posted August 27, 2009 Hi; Is this normal? I got a 2nd one off Ebay and it rattles too. It seem to work ok but is this the begining of the end for the Disks or is this no big deal? Anyway if this is normal I can sell my Backup cheap. Let me Know Thanke Pete

Let me Know Thanke Pete Is there any way you can put a dial indicator on the disc and rotate the wheel? You may find that by seeing a "high" spot and taking the bolts out of the disk and rotating it 180º that it could be in the wheel if the "high" stays with the wheel location and not the disc. RandyA

RandyA Hi Randy; I don't want to steal this thread but on both Rotors outer disks can move side to side from the Hub. It quite loose at the rivets and just kind of flops side to side about 1/8 of a inch, their tight front to back. Oh well back to topic, their hard to find on Ebay. The front rotors are all over but the rear rotors are hard to find, if you do find on their usually cheap like $60 to $70. Make sure the rivets are tight, mine stop the bike OK but the rattling is very irritating and for all I know they might come apart when I really need them. Seem like a really poor design. Good Luck, Pete Edited August 27, 2009 by Vonwolf
PEIslander Posted August 27, 2009 #8 Posted August 27, 2009 Is the 87 rear rotor the same as an 84, if so I have one that isn't warped that will get you going. I know the fronts are different but not sure of the rear. Anyone have the answer? Rick

Good Luck, Pete I learned something. I did not know that the MKII rotors were floating rotors with rivets. I thought the were like the MKI's, just different off set and slotted. RandyA
jasonm. Posted August 27, 2009 #10 Posted August 27, 2009 my rear rotor has 60k or so on it. Not loose. Rivets fine. But then , I have de-intergrated my brake the last 50k. SO the rear is not used as much. Yes, try EBC. Just make sure it is also a floater.
bongobobny Posted August 27, 2009 #11 Posted August 27, 2009 MK1and Mk2 rotors are different, and yes, float! Rick at Buckeye Performance is a good source for the EBC's. Us Ventureriders get a good discount...
