BuddyRich Posted August 20, 2009 #1 Posted August 20, 2009 My Zumo decided today that it will pick an icon for me and hold it. Won't let go of it. If I push another it bounces back and forth but will just stop on one like your holding your finger on it. Tried reset ,battery removal and updating. Nothing worked yet. Anybody else seen this behavior ? I don't mean me beatin my head against the wall...
Mariner Fan Posted August 20, 2009 #2 Posted August 20, 2009 Yep. Tried everything and finally called Garmin. They replaced the unit for free.
Midrsv Posted August 20, 2009 #3 Posted August 20, 2009 I just had mine replaced for the same condition. That was my third Garmin that had failed due to the touch screen malfunctioning. One 2610 and now two Zumo 550's. After the first Zumo failed far out of warranty I sent it in for repair and payed the $150 for a refurbished unit. A little over a year later and out of warranty it failed for the same condition. This time, about 3 weeks ago, I called Garmin and expressed my displeasure at having now 3 screen failures and they very quickly and politely agreed to replace this one under warranty. I've had them stick on a single button, pick one point on the screen and it selects something two inches away and sometimes it would randomly select things as I travelled down the road. I read somewhere on the Zumo forums that this is a common issue and you can sometimes clean the dirt from under the bezel around the screen and improve the condition. Dennis
seabeetom Posted August 20, 2009 #4 Posted August 20, 2009 Not had the above mentioned problems, but, I can barely hear the lady in the box. Not sure if it's the car mount speaker or the 550 itself. Was working just fine last week. Volume settings are at 100%.

Was working just fine last week. Volume settings are at 100%. If it's in the car mount where you are having the problem it's more than likely the miniphono jack receptical is separating from the circuit board. It happened to mine as well as Beer30's.
rwrenn1 Posted October 27, 2009 #6 Posted October 27, 2009 yup I got the same problem. I am on my second one and Garmin is trying to charge me for a second time for the repair. total B.S. It cost me 200 for the first repair and they wanted 150 for the second but they then said they would split it with me and only charge 75. after the cost of the unit, the XM antenna, The first repair, why should I pay again
