RandyR Posted August 19, 2009 #2 Posted August 19, 2009 I had similar front brake noises that started on my trip to the International rally in Arkansas. It seems to have cleared itself up. I asked a couple others about it, and they suggested I picked up a grain of sand or spot of tar/grease on the pad that might wear itself off soon. It did. But I first closely examined my pads to make sure they were still thick enough.

slick97spirit Posted August 19, 2009 #4 Posted August 19, 2009 mine does the same thing occasionally. I think it's a normal thing with these bikes.
Chinto Posted August 19, 2009 #5 Posted August 19, 2009 I had a grinding metal on metal sound with slow speed stops with the front brake for quite some time. The OEM pads still had around 50% left compared to a new pad. The noise would come and go but over several months it would be more come than go. Very annoying when you come to a stop in a group. Sounds just like worn out brakes. My solution was to replace the pads and scotch brited the rotor. I have not had any noise from the front brakes now for the last 1 1/2 years now. A friend said the old pads had "glazed". He said the only thing to do is simply replace them when that happens.
